if u don't wanna watch it then don't watch.
quite simple really.
ludicrous comment.sharpei_louis wrote:but this tips me over the edge. The tv show is a stinging indictment of his all out cash lust and disregard for boxing status. Not happy one bit, and I wonder how far this show will go to alienating some of his supporters? Inevitably the biggest fans will remain loyal, but there must be plenty like me who are starting to feel a bit shortchanged. I have a ticket for the Lazcano fight but may consider taking it back at this rate.

Few things:
In regard to keeping his head down in an attempt to secure the rematch with PBF - that's probably the whole point of the 'documentary' - the only way PBF is ever gonna get back into the ring with Hatton is if he knows that (barring DLH III) it's the biggest financial fight out there. Hatton has nothing to offer PBF in the way of a sporting challenge anymore, so if there's any dip in popularity then Hatton is never gonna make the match with PBF. What better way to reinforce that popularity than have a tv show??? Queue no credible opposition whatsoever for Hatton until the PBF fight is either dead in the water or made....
Onto the documentary. My brother was seeing Jenny Dooley for a while (obviously prior her becoming Mrs Hatton!) and from my memory she was pretty boring. What an amazing show this will be. Not only do we get to watch Hatton himself (who fair play knows how to be witty and is a decent lad) but the hangers on also get to make names for themselves. Think it's a real shame that his own mum and dad are getting in on it; always find it a bit disconcerting. I'd prefer to never know Hatton's dad's name... who's Muhammad Ali's father? Or Lennox? That's the way it should be.
I was a big Hatton fan, knew him way back on a fleeting level as his gym was at the end of my street, and was always pretty proud of him. Understood his appeal totally, and have defended him in the Witter saga on here (to a certain extent; I never truly defended him merely said 'let's wait and see') but this tips me over the edge. Or how about at home with Ricky Hatton as he beats up Shannons mother, I'd rather watch that than the Lazcanno fightTerry D wrote:See, the comforting armchair of familiarity.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:And guiness and darts and Kostya TyszuTerry D wrote: That is a bit harsh, I'm sure he will talk about Matthew Hatton also.
Maybe the show will open with Hatton, resplendent in tweed, sitting before a log fire uttering the words we have always wanted to hear him say: "hello, and welcome to 'Ricky Hatton's foreign film of the week spot'. This week I shall be looking at the French film 'L'ennui', a tale of the excitement/boredom found in simplicity, as well as an exploration of meaningless obsession featuring a Rubenesque harpy and a Camus style man on the edge of existential crisis."
I'd rather see a 'At home with Shannon's (tearful/pitiful/chav/in on it)mother', at last that way we can keep an eye on the other kids.
but none of this will distract from his usual training habits.sharpei_louis wrote:hitman_hatton1 wrote:ludicrous comment.sharpei_louis wrote:but this tips me over the edge. I'll take it that asking for a refund on the back of a tv show is borderline ridiculous, but saying that he is more interested in cash than boxing status is evidenced by the tv show.
Jordan and Peter; Kerry bleedin' Katona, and now 'At Home with the Hattons'??? Come on, even the most ardent Hatton fan (and I am a pretty big fan) can't defend that. He should be saying he doesn't want any distractions from fight preparation, not 'it's only a camera crew'. You must take my point about his mum and dad getting involved all the time now, it's a bit of a soap opera already and the last thing I want to see is him away from boxing.
This is the problem with this country, we develop 'celebrities' that are famous for nowt but being famous. If we have a close documentary on his training methods etc that would make for relatively interesting viewing, but if you're really interested in his mum, dad, girlfriend and brother pissing about at home or down the pub then you've got far too much time on your hands. Aren't we getting away from the fact that he's supposed to be a hardened ring warrior, a gladiator. OK if it sells a few tickets then show he is a down to earth person, but coming off the back of a stoppage defeat I want him to be ruthless and dedicated. If Billy Graham is all for a camera crew following Hatton round then he's gone more Hollywood than the rougharse trainer who got Hatton to where he is.
OK, do you think Billy Graham will like it? If not then maybe it's not the best of ideas.hitman_hatton1 wrote:but none of this will distract from his usual training habits.sharpei_louis wrote:hitman_hatton1 wrote: ludicrous comment.![]()
