mundine at middleweight
mundine at middleweight
how would he go?
speed is mundines greatest weapon. speed of hand and foot. and mundine is regarded as a puncher, and physically strong, even at super middle.
i dont know how hard he does it to make SM. but i do know he has spoken of fighting at middle. which suggests that he feels its at least possible. i think he weighed in underweight in his last fight?
if mundine can compete at super middle, and retain his strength and stamina, who in the middleweight division WOULDNT he beat?

Who says Anthony is regarded as a 'puncher' at SM?
Its pretty hard to judge from what we have seen.
Manny Siaca didn't seem to be affected by him.
He Kayoed Lester Ellis, and.......Sam Solomon and....... well a few others but I don't think anyone really considers him a puncher.
I would love to see him at middleweight but would rather he do SM properly and fight Kessler.

If he can make middleweight - he definitely should. His main problem is that soem SMW can bully him in terms of sheer power - for instance I would avoid Andrade at all cost if I was Mundine.
Pavlik would also be rough for Mundine, but I think he would beat anyone else - well Abraham vs Mundine is probably a toss-up.
Either way he should get in the mix - not by meeting KEssler - because Kessler just has his number. He should make some fights with other good people.

Re: mundine at middleweight
Pavlik, he's a lighter better version of kessler, with as much pop.pawpaw wrote:how would he go?

I would still like to know who regards him as a puncher? If you read the comments in the current scene forum you will see that most pundits credit him with skill and speed but little else.
His KOs are often due to accuraccy not power, I think he loses that accuracy when he drops to MW as he loses speed and footwork. Have a look at the Nieveas fight, Nieveas walked into his right and left all night and was still standing.pawpaw wrote:mundine is a puncher/boxer. but he is still a puncher. he can produce 1 punch ko's. mundine is a puncher. period.

Re: mundine at middleweight
I honestly see Pavlik as a poor man's Kessler. They are pretty similar except that Kessler punches far more accurately and is technically more sound.toppity wrote:Pavlik, he's a lighter better version of kessler, with as much pop.pawpaw wrote:how would he go?

It would be interesting to see Kessler vs Pavlik.
Kessler would dominate Pavlik IMO.
I doubt Mundine could easily make 160. If he could why wouldn't he have done it before?
In any case I think the result would be the same as at 168 i.e. he could beat up on some average fighters and then lose when he steps up to the elite in the division (Pavlik, Wright, Abraham, etc)
He would probably beat Sturm...

I can understand if Mundine wants an australian fight - he is afterall Australian. I can also understand if he doesn't want to fight someone he already fought in Kessler.toppity wrote:Sams the man if he wants to have a fair fight at middleweight.Grant wrote:I agree Ben, We just don't know about 'the man' because of the standard of fighter he goes up against.
I can however see him dropping back if he can find the right opponent.
Personalyl however I would want him to fight someoen like Lacy.
I would like to see him fight Lacy or Allan Green. Either of those fights would give him a foot in the door in America. Personally I could see him trying to line up a fight with Beyer now that he is on the comeback.theHitman wrote:I can understand if Mundine wants an australian fight - he is afterall Australian. They are all very winnable fights, but none of them will come to Australia...calmac66 wrote:I would like to see him fight Lacy or Allan Green. If I was Mundine I'd want to fight Kessler again, try and avenge the loss. But by that logic why would he want to fight Green (pre-retirement) and Soliman again? Oh wait, he beat them both last time without any concern, that's why.
Mundine dropping to MW would have almost nothing to do with the weight but a way to avoid fighting Kessler again. That's my opinion, nothing "the man" has done lately makes me think otherwise.
I'd love to see him fight Lacy. I'd love to see Lacy knock him into retirement.
Until Mundine starts fighting quality opponents again, world-class opponents, I will never respect him.
I agree i wouldn't call Pavlik basic. Taylor twice, Miranda, mckart, these are quality opposition. And the guys they have beat are quality.Brute wrote:Pavlik is a basic fighter. Pavlik who took his title off the man who beat Bernard Hopkins twice.
Be serious.
Pavlik would lick Mundine,Kessler at Middle.
