Why to Irish travelers box? Why to Italians make pizza and turk's make Kebahs ?

Its a way of life for them. Most grow up in and around boxing therefore it is natural to them to follow in fathers, brothers footsteps etc.

One previous post said that the opponent would be scared of them, I dont think this is true, many of out AMA boxers fight travelers regualrly and are never any more worried than any other opponent.

The Irish travelers that I know (well0 are all decent down to earth guys, they get a bad name and yes they will short change you on your scrap but all scrap men do that lol.

Give them half a chance and they are fine people, treat them like shit and they will shit on you too.

As an ethnic grouop I have no issues with them and would gladly (and have in the past) had many a drink with them. TBH I'm the complete opposite of them and they by the same thinking should hate me and want me left for dead in a ditch, but they don, why not ? cause we have a mutual friendship and are not concerned about the sterotypicial views that other apply to either ethnic groups.

Travelers to win gold this year lol

For the life of me, I can't understand people being racist, bar 'ignorance' or a 'superiority complex'. It's disgusting. And being an Irishman, who has suffered racial slurs by Brits and Americans, I abhor anyone engaging in disrespect for anyones culture. AND WORSE AGAIN...Any Irish man who engages in such behaviour may ask himself is he truly Irish at the core himself??? Probably not, to be fair.

Otherwise, why would and Irishman who has been treated as dirt at the hands of others because of his ethnicity, impose the same ridiculous notions to a different ethnicity, knowing the anger and emotion it raises? Irish travelers are a tough bunch of people, but they're extremely hard-working and tell it the way it is, so you have to respect them for that. Any traveler I have come across, either in the ring or on the street have been more than willing to engage in good conversation and keep to themselves, unless otherwise provoked.

The most viable reason they're good fighters is probably not far off the reason why the settled-Irish have a good fighting tradition- that is, because of the treatment they have received from others and having to defend themselves from such omnipotent behaviour.

Martin Power is from 'travelling stock'.

They aren't a bad bunch as long as they aren't on your doorstep and you don't turn your back on them.

Pubs in North London didn't always have 'travellers by appointment only' for no good reason.
