I knew a cop nicknamed "Seven heads." They reckoned he needed that many heads to be that ugly.

Rocky was a form of "Rocco", Marciano's real name being Rocco Marchegiano. It was changed because his manager could not pronounce it.

Luis "Lumumba" Estaba.

who would call themselves "Half Man" and expect people not to laugh is what I want to know. "Brown Bomber" take out of context sounds like something conceived after heavy dinner.

The winner: "The Human Freight Car"

Can't take life too seriously with that

Funniest one I ever heard was a '70s NY heavyweight by the name of Barry Funches, whom they would call, Barry "bunches of punches" Funches.

Ohhhh! Didn't get the connotation until I dropped the nickname. When did he fight? Another cool one I recall was that super-bantam from Argentina named Pedro Decima, whom they called 'The Decimator'. Not too bad at all.

In response to Granberry:

A papacito is a pampered male lover, a gigolo, a don juan, a mellow fellow.

Papacito Kid was a popular Caribbean fighter in his time.

There was another fellow in the British ranks at around the same time - Chris P Bacon.

I kid you not.

Then there was Slugger O'Toole. Real name Fidel Castro Smith.
