Matt Macklin meets Sheffield's useful Dean Walker on Saturday in Cardiff. The Brummie, having his first fight since another Sheffield man, Andrew Facey, outsmarted him for the English light-middleweight title in November, won't have it easy with Walker, who has won his last nine fights on the spin.
This is a good match.
Yes it's a fair choice of opponent considering Macklin is coming off a loss.
That said, Walker's record doesn't indicate much power and his wins are over novices and losing journeyman. Good matchmaking from Macklin's point of view of getting a win.

Is Walker particularly skilful?
To be honest, I don't know Butch. I'm sure someone on the forum can answer your question.
i went to the recent koncrete promotions bill at the barnsley metrodome recently and walker was on the bill,he's not really skillful he's just a ruff and ready fighter who's got resnoble skills.I do feel he has been very well matched and will be stopped in around 3 rounds on saturday.
Just leaving for Cardiff now - good opponent for Macklin's first fight back. Lets see if Macklin can take Walker out - look out for a new style body attack - or settles back in and looks to do the job on points.
