If they could make Calzaghe-Tarver, that would be some fight. Tarver has just the right amount of arrogance/personality to sell the match and he beat Clinton Woods.

Also, let's not forget the HBO/Showtime split. Each network has their own light heavyweight champion of the world. Showtime are settling this with Dawon v Tarver. Calzaghe and Hopkins are the HBO/Ring Mag boys. So each side is cut off. It's easier and better perhaps to get hold of Johnson.

Or perhaps just go it alone and get Erdei over to Wales.
Just can't see Johnson on any level - no benefit to legacy, no big pull financially and not even a 'gimme' for the final fight of a great career.

I don't think logistically, Dawson or Tarver can be made.

Johnson is a network worthy fighter - 80% of the Showtime viewers that voted online said Johnson was the most impressive fighter on last week's card - so if HBO want Calzaghe to fight a worthy opponent, it could happen.

However, if Joe beats Hopkins HBO will probably want a piece of him whomever he fights. Hopefully this doesn't lead to Roy Jones. That would be a bit sick really.

Johnson did KTFO Jones, did beat Dawson in the eyes of many, went 1-1 with Tarver...and is an old man...not a bad choice even if the man is unfashionable.

Joe could certainly fill a big UK arena vs Johnson and get US TV interested.

Personally, I want to see him vs Johnson and Erdei.
