Ricky, for me, comes across as genuine, as do all of his team. I'd say the reason he promotes this bloke down the pub act is becasue its true. Would you all like him to lie. I just don;t get the negativity around it.

Here is a guy, on the verge of the biggest fight of his career, being asked to do things he clearly hasn;t done before and under the media microscope. Give the bloke a rest. He's only a man who is good at fighting. Who gives a flying eff if he's acting a little bit differently to normal. Its good he is, this is not a normal fight. This is legacy stuff. If Ricky wins then he is not just a superstar of british sport but a legend. His whole life depends on 36mins of fighting. Hardly suprising there is some tension in the air. Would any here handle it as well with a camera shoved in their face 24/7. I doubt it.

As far as following the $$ would anyone on here do it for free?

You should have been at Derby Storm the night Hatton went to watch Witter fight - Witter all fired up after knocking somebody cold started shouting abuse at Hatton who was minding his own business at the time and saying nothing - Hatton was well upset and took his jacket off - I dont think he has attended a Witter fight since - You cant say you are an average bloke and in the same sentence say you are God - Ricky seems to detest Witter and Mayweather - The difference between them is Mayweather is the best out there and Ricky wants to beat him for the world to see whereas Witter would just be a fight for us here in the UK and the US would have little interest - No way even if Ricky loses would he ever consider fighting a British fighter again, least of all Witter to give him a massive payday - Witter blew his chances with the Americans a long time ago.

Whats unpatriotic about not liking a British sportsman? Do I have to like Jack the Ripper? Hes a Brit too isnt he.

Ironically you mention WW2 where patriotism, racism and tribalism are the reason for WW2, Hitlers rise to power and the murder of millions in the first place.

It's pretty obvious that Ricky lost the psychological war right at the last minute. The throat-slitting gesture says it all really.

Anyway, I never bought into Ricky's nice guy persona. He's a boxer for God's sake, it's a brutal sport!

Personally, I don't particularly dislike Mayweather. Sure he's arrogant but he does at least have the talent to back it up.

However calling Ricky a midget was uncalled for :D

I spent my hard-earned cash on the Collazo and Urango PPV's after Ricky made massive statements like "I'll be a better welterweight than I was a light-welterweight and that's frightening" and "You'll be watching the pound-for-pound most exciting fighter on the planet".. what did I get..? i got fornicating crap.. Ricky has done the same again, saying "Floyd doesn't stand a cat in hell's chance" and he better pray that he wins this one well or i know alot of people who will wash their hands with him as in even liking him.. WE ARE LINING HIS POCKETS WITH 10'S OF MILLIONS, ffs..

Bollocks. He has hawked himself around throughout his career to get the DOLLARS! Alledgedly, whom by the way I am not a fan off, got his Tszyu at the right time. Great matchmaking. THen what happens?

Your mate next door? Yep, the kind of the mate who would shag your missus.

Prime example. PATHETIC BEYOND BELIEF. Crap like this needs to be challenged before anymore pro PBF/Witter fans think it's a valid reason.

Ricky's got a couple of fights left in him. I'd like to see Cotto one of them. Why waste time with Witter.

Have the balls to just support PBF without this crap. This is aimed at Maelstrom and the muppets that agreed with him.
I supported Mayweather with and without this crap. If I have an opinion am I not allowed to voice it? If I found the same point rammed home and home again by different members of his team isn't that allowed to irk me? Can you not understand that everything around the fight led me to back Mayweather more?

I think your blinkered, jingoistic and not prepared to listen to other peoples opinions. If you dont agree with me, fine let me know. But why get offensive?

I know what the war was all about - Most German people were against it and the things Hitler did but afraid to voice their opinions - The British stood together against the common enemy and remained united in their neighbourhoods throughout the land until the 60s when all that changed - I grew up with displaced Jews and Poles who came here seeking refuge - Most of my friends were Jewish back in the 50s - By the way there is pretty good evidence Jack the Ripper was in fact a yank - Tomblety, I think, (spelling probably wrong) - Mind Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire ripper was British I will give you that.

I think some Germans were against it but I think an awful lot got caught up in the patriotic pack instinct of attacking the weak. Not saying all patriotism is bad and the Brit WW2 effort is something to be proud where we were truly rightous of unlike the wars were involved in today

Touche with Jack the Ripper being a Yank, oh and my mother and father used to walk home in the dark in the area where Peter Suttcliffe lived/operated

Thank God your Mother didnt walk alone - I remember from a TV documentary a young girl who worked in the office at the firm Where Sutcliffe worked asking him for a lift because she was afraid the Yorkshire ripper might get her, ironic.

No she did walk alone though  Lucky I got to born at all, although the odds of being attacked are probably not that high despite everything. The areas probably worse and more dangerous today without Sutcliffe

I've been fortunate enough to spend a little time in Hatton's gym - cheers to Terry D :TU: - and found him, and particularly Billy, to be both welcoming and generous with their time.

As for chasing money - IMO he left Warren to chase big fights. As he said last night, it's about the glory for him. Yes, money comes with that, but it isn't the driving force. IMO if he could have fought Witter for more money than Floyd he would have still went after Floyd.

As for Witter, he's been 2 steps behind Hatton for years. Hatton was always pursuing Tszyu and then Mayweather. Only now does a Witter fight make real sense from Hatton's point of view IMO.

Call me NOSTRADAMUS from now on!

By the way Banjo... you either bought some expensive shoes, or need a lot of beer to get drunk!
