I knew Tommy Shiels quite well from the amateurs. He boxed out of Stowe ABC (I don't know if the club is still around). Nice stylish tall boxer was Tommy. I heard that he was living in Australia at one one time, but the last I heard he became a born again christian, as you say, and was preaching on the streets of North London (the guy who told me this, probably unkindly, saying 'that he had lost his marbles and become a bible basher').rpms wrote:pretty sure that he found religion,he had a brother (Brian?) who was also a young prospect.I hope that I"m not spectacularly wrong but I seem to remember that they both became preachers or similar.
I don't remember a younger brother tbh. But he had an older brother Dean who I believe was a decent fighter too (I think he fought out of Repton for a time).
