Something Steve Bunce said that didn't seem to make sense...

Post by scrap iron »

When Steve Bunce was talking about Alex Arthur he mention two massive names were being discussed for Arthur's next fight in September, but he would expect Arthur to get past either one of them and set up a fight with possibly Kevin Mitchell in December. Now massive names to me would be Marquez, Guzman, Valero etc. If that's the case then how come Bunce is so confident Arthur would come through unscathed against them?
Is a massive name really Derry Matthews or someone?

130 is a bit devoid of talent now so a massive name for the division ain't like it was 12 months ago.

I hope it's not Baloyi or I'll go apeshit.

We all know that BIG Steve is prone to the SLIGHT exaggeration, so I suppose it depends on what Steves definition of a massive name is? my definition is the same as yours SI (Marquez, Guzman, Valero etc.), but Steve may be referring to the amount of cyllables ....... is 'Israel Hector Enrique Perez' next on the cards for AAA :)

I'd say the massive names are either Foster or Choi

Yeah, something didn't feel right when he said that. I just think he was trying to portray himself as the "man in the know" really. I mean I wouldn't be surprised to see Arthur fight Ramos or McFields before fighting Mitchell and then moving up. I would personally see if Jaurez or Marquez are free because Arthur does need a big and nice payday. Although, I think Buncey was going over the top when he said that there's two massive names in the hat and I cringed when he said "if I told you I would be taken off the TV" when I really think he does't know. Or perhaps his definition of massive is average to us.

He's usually doesn't mind announcing fights/negotations before they are announced - e.g. Hatton vs DLH again.

So why not mention names in a phrase like "wouldn't it be great if Alex Arthur fought......

I suspect Medina.

I seriously suggest he was talking clear smack on Sunday. Probably trying to make himself look knowledgable, but it doesn't.

Probably meant a massive name for a fight that is massive in an all British sense.

I can't see Frank putting Mitchell in with Arthur just yet. He will do that next year after Mitchell gets some more experience and Arthur's probably had the ordeal of losing so much weight for his next fight because I believe Arthur will soon be dead at 130lbs, if he isn't already. It won't be Mitchell, I swear to God.

Did you notice when he was talking about people getting stick in forums, and mentioned how he always gets some when he reads them.

Well hello Steve :)

It did seen a little fishy as he usually likes to anounce these things rather than keep info up his sleave.

Why would you go apeshit? It would be a decent fight.

Wouldnt you fight Mitchell first before Marquez, Guzman or Valero? Mitchell is the only name I think AAA could win against and even then it would be a tough match. Buncey must be talking crap using the words "massive names".

Drawing with a 99 year-old Medina and an okay performance against St Clair and Fana didn't exactly fill me with hope.

The queerest thing about what Bunce said was that Arthur fighting this massive 'name' would then set him up for a fight with Kevin Mitchell

:o

Surely we can all see the irony in that?

In Brodies case it's because of an expensive divorce settlement, so I read (I think)
