Golden Boy are lucky in that main-man ODLH is a fighter, so you would hope they don't take the piss out of their boxers but also, like someone said, where's a start-to-title Golden Boy fighter? Do they have any young prospects they're building up? Be nice to see a good decent investigative article on the machinations of Golden Boy.

UK-based boxers would do well to go with Warren. He's tried, tested and if you do have real potential you can only do well. I think it's a shame Calzaghe is looking to switch. Hope he's looked into/checked the figures properly and hasn't turned from Welsh dragon into green-eyed monster just for sake of last pay day.

I don't think Warren's to blame for Calzaghe's lack of big fights until his the flourish in his career. Even Calzaghe says in his book that it was only his dad who got him to fight Lacy. He's a home fighter Joe. Nothing wrong with that and as champion he has the right to ask challengers to beat him at a site of his choosing. Makes me laugh these Americans saying 'you've got to come here to beat me'. Well no shit, sherlock. How many times did De La Hoya or Jones Jnr fight outside America? Think I've rambled a bit here. Sorry.

Looks like no-one would sign with Fwank. Dont blame anyone. The guy is a fraud just like Don King but at least King puts on better shows with half decent undercards. Fwank has robbing us all these years with fights like Hatton v Rios, Calzaghe v Pudwill, Macca v Gunn, oh and lets not forget Pete Manfredo in front of 35,000 ppl. I know boxing is business but at least we could get a decent show once in a while. All the other British promoters arent great either. Id still sign for Hayemaker just for the sake of it!!

Golden Boy have just signed Cubans Yan Barthelemy and Erislandy Lara, so these are starting out in their pro careers.
Golden Boy have also got young heavy Ashanti Jordan who is 3-0, was rated 2nd in the US amatuer rankings.

well if sky force the fights it can only be good for the sport and if promotions have been turned down it say's a lot for there ambition as i've said before people only want the best to fight to each other

I am reading this with great interest; obviously there are a number of newcomers to the British Scene claiming they are backed by Goldenboy.

One has to ask what have Goldenboy ever done in the sense of building a fighter??

All they are doing is what King done in the 80’s and 90’s stealing ready made fighters as they are backed by HBO’s money and Oscar De La Hoya’s ring appearances.

What will happen to them when there is a change of management at HBO and Oscar no longer fights, the same thing will happen with Hayemaker who also claim to be backed by Goldenboy and at this moment seem to be throwing the cash around as if they have deep pockets, how long can this last.

If I was still boxing and looking to go pro I would go with one of the established promoters who have a track record.

You only have to look at John Hyland, Audley Harrison and Lion Promotions and Golden Fists to see how the Johnny come lately’s perform.

Golden Boy are here to stay, and are gonna be the big force.
ODLH retiring makes no difference.
Mayweather is invloved, as is Hopkins.
They intend doing the job properly bringing their wealth of experience of dealing with Promotors in the past.
Money talks and there's plenty in the kitty.
