I dread to imagine what the HW champion of the

Often walking to the ring is one of the hardest things
a fighter can do.....after losing inside 1 at such a high
level being seen is much worse.....so wearing a disguise
is no disgrace...I wish i had a good enough disguise in
the past.
I said Patterson was a good man...But I had to defend myself when I am called a retard and a puppet of Thomas Hauser as if his book is the only book I read...

But the fights I cited are the fights most people judge his career by...And the historical context in which they occurred is accurate...

Granberry was in a most dyspetic mood tonight...

On top of it, Patterson was the first and only linear Heavyweight champion to ever get KO'd in the first round. Weaver and Witherspoon and some other paper belt holders did later, but they aren't real Heavyweight champions in my mind. Still, Patterson had a great career after losing to Liston; he had some of his best wins after his championship days.

Maybe if Cus didn't build Liston up to such mythic proportions Patterson would have made more of a fight of it...

I Feel Fine wrote:I agree. It's also hard to get up for an old Patterson when you nearly shutout a younger version. The only fight where he really looked in really great shape in '72 was the Quarry rematch. And plus he did well enough in '72 to be named Fighter of the Year, going 6-0. But it caught up to him with Norton, and he had to get himself back into really great shape to win the rematch. Then he had probably his best year in '74.
I remember watching Ali-Quarry Two on the Wide World Of Sports as a kid...Ali showed a lot of compassion to Quarry in that fight when he beckoned the ref to stop the fight with one hand as he hit him with the other hand on the ropes... My friends and I used to imitate him to the point of writing boxing related poetry to one another a la Ali in typing class...

I remember when he fought Mathis he weighed 227 which was a lot for him then... SI said it looked like "two blimps meeting in the ring"

That's why I take umbrage when granberry say Remick or Hauser or Mailer informed my views...I lived in that era...

And I made a poem for you...

I feel as if I'm back in junior high...

There once was a poster named granny

Who thought not with his head but with his fanny

He had a forensic duel with the one

And for him it was not fun

Now everybody that sees him calls him "son"...
A genuine retard.

And of course an Ali fan.

PM I just got:

"The One" is the dumbest poster ever. I thought I Feel Fine, Big Bad John, etc. were insane, but "the one" is so crazy that the others look sane by comparison. His posts are so stupid that I have written replies to a few of them and then erased them because I don't want to be associated with anything he writes. What a moron that guy is.

You like Shakespeare, glandularbery...

How do you like this Shakespeare, glandularberry:

"It was a tale told by a fool, sound and fury signifying nothing."

Probably a poster like you that I owned with my rapier wit...Or more fiction from you...Maybe you can write fiction about the young men with the broad backs that give you a tingling in your
loins...

And you're an f-ing idiot...I FeelFine is one of the few posters who doesn't get sucked into your puerile games...Unfortunately I did...But that's because after I owned you, you turned this thread into a game of the dozens...

TheOne has now given away the fact he is collins, the Code Pinko boxrec poster with the homosexual fixation.

Under your new alias you couldn't control your urge to write about homosexuality for long, could you collins ?

LOL

Yeah, I'm collins... The Southern Fried (Florida) Australian...

But I take it as a compliment...The young man has a rapier wit, ergo:

We knew you were collins the whole time.

You spread your fixation on homosexuality over boxrec.

I'm not collins...Our writing styles can not be more different...

But did you think your fetish for young men with broad backs would go unnoticed?

I used to. It's better to ignore trolls. They just want attention, anyway. Granted, I responded to granberry in a thread today; it is difficult not to respond when you're being directly challenged, especially by this piece of work.

Granberry thinks Ali sucks and is a fraud...He's entitled to his opinion and everybody knows what that great twentieth century philosopher, Larry Flynt, said about opinions...But he should man up and defend his opinios instead of relying on his obscurantist tactics and ad hominem attacks...

I'm still waiting for him to defend his assertion "that Ali ran from Patterson..." This whole detour is a function of the fact that I called him on his bullshit and he couldn't handle it...

Well that's the point. Granberry never responds when he is challenged in a real way. He'll simply call you a shill and move on. That's why its best to ignore him.
