Agree with the above points. Under the crap scoring system Fletcher did lose but looked to be a fighter who would be much better as a pro than the cuban who beat him ( good body punches not scored, better power, not a runner, agreesive).I think he would be a really good pick up for one of our more enlightened promoters.

Couldn't see fletcher spending too much more time as an amateur
Probably come home and have a final amateur bout then debut as a pro, could see the same thing happening with todd kidd and paul fleming, its shaping up to be quite an exciting time for boxing considering that we have adam forsyth pro

I read somewhere that as soon as he returns home from Olympics, Fletcher will be turning pro.

I also read Mahoney is retiring.

Fletcher looked good despite the score, rubbish result for him.

Definitely agree with this comment. After that fight I look forward to seeing Fletcher in the pro's.

I'm disappointed I missed Little and Flemming's fights, stuffed up my recording.

Well glad I am not the only one who thought the Fletcher fight was faaaaaaarked.Pity there is no chance he will ever meet that cuban as a pro coz i reckon he would win. Didnt he knock the bloke down as well-ref did a count but no point awarded?????think commentators said it was a slip but i disagree.Reckon he was hurt.
The scoring has been a joke. Very disappointing yet again.
Look forward to seeeing Fletcher in the pros.

I have seen blokes go down a couple of times and there doesn't seem to be any reward for a knock down!?! Why is that? It should be 10 points for a knockdown...

just watched young steve sutherland fight and the kid got raped. good punches not scored and the tunisian was hitting with open hand and was called by both ref and commentators yet scored with many of them. pretty frustrating and disappointing to watch.

Absolutely, to say he didn't score a point in the first three rounds is beyond belief, especially considering what the other bloke was scoring with...

and here I am thinking about taking some young blokes through the system to bigger and better things but have to tell them that there comes a time where they will be bent over and...... doesn't give much encouragement to people in the sport trying to do the right thing does it?

No it doesn't.

I didn't see the Sutherland fight myself, but it would not surprise me to hear the suspect scoring, open hand counting, body shots not counting, etc.
I thought it was only at a local level that scoring was fucked and inconsistent, but appears it goes all the way to the top.
(I've lost a fight before, a few people believe, due to body shots not being counted)

i nearly turn it off. My missus was more worried about me than ususal. I want to polaxe the judges, the people who invented the scoring system, the people who supplied the computers, the people who invented the software...well you get what i mean.
I'm not saying that he didn't get beaten, i believe he did, but not by the score shown.

Unleash, i'd be telling the kids who have ambition to use the amateur stuff as a springboard to the pro's and nothing more (unless they just enjoy the sport). If success comes their way then great, but don't rely on the system allowing the best fighter to stand on the top of the heap.

not likely to happen but would love to see some unknown just come out haymaking and Ko all the "favourites" then bend over at the judges and say kiss my arse. But then there is reality.

to have sutherland what was it 19-0 until 10 secs to go.BOLLOX.Again the tunisian did win(even with the slaps) but come on.

The losses I can handle and I'm sure the boys competing over there can too. But it makes me sad to see a 14-2 or 19-1 or whatever score when it's not deserved, it makes the boxer seem like he was not competitive to anyone who didn't see the fight.
Poor fella's are gonna have to put up with this now:
"Yeah, I got beat 19-2."
"Wow, you got smashed"
"Not really, the scoring was fucked."
"I'm sure it was."

As opposed to,
"Yeah, I got beat 17-12."
