Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison will now face Martin Rogan on September 6 at the M.E.N Arena. The pair had been due to meet in Birmingham in July, but the fight was resceduled. "I'm delighted that the Rogan fight has been rearranged so quickly," said Harrison. "I'm looking forward to getting my career back on track, and defeating Rogan will be the perfect way of signalling my intentions."Alex Arthur's WBO World Super-Featherweight title defense against Nicky Cook tops the card in Manchester along with Amir Khan's defense of his Commonwealth lightweight titleAlso on the card are Paul Smith in an English middleweight title challenge against Steve Bendall, Steve Foster Jr in an English super-featherweight title challenge against Femi Fehintola, Matt Macklin in a 10 rounder, plus Matthew Hall, Steve Bell, Anthony Crolla, Denton Vassell and Stephen Smith.
Stephen Smith???
Not of Ricky Hatton fame?

Re: Audley bout rescheduled!
I placed the first bet "in shop" at a local bookies, got odds of 9/2 I think it was, might have been 7/2 for a Rogan win.
I haven't looked again for prices since the bout was re-scheduled. I will check local odds tomorrow and let you know.

Re: Audley bout rescheduled!
I quite fancy the upset here. AH has the skills as we know but lacks heart. Rogan on the other hand has plenty. Rogan will come to fight but will Harrison who just promises us a performance and rarely gives one. Yes on paper Rogan is the underdog but only because Harrison is the Olympic champion and the much bigger man. I honestly think Rogan is in with a big chance here and should he win Harrisons career would definately be over. As I have said before if it was possible to put Harrison and Skelton into a mixing pot, you would have a World champion for sure. Harrisons fear of being chinned stops him from committing in a fight and I cant see him ever achieving very much. I really hope Rogan does get the win and good luck to him. I like fighters who are dedicated and determined to win as he is.
Re: Audley bout rescheduled!
The fights off, Rogan has injured his hands.

Will be interesting to see what happens. If the fight is put back again or a short notice opponent brought in.

Audley-Sprott 2 would be a more-than acceptable alternative, and I suspect Sprott would accept it.

We will see. It was my immediate thought I have to say. Not being an expert on the game tho I'm not sure Sprott would take it on just over 3 weeks notice tho.oliverfennell wrote:Audley-Sprott 2 would be a more-than acceptable alternative, and I suspect Sprott would accept it.
Re: Audley bout rescheduled!
I'm sure Sprott would take it if the money was right, and it might be good for Audley to get his revenge against an under prepared opponent.

Sprott's back in his "continental journeyman" mode; no reason why he wouldn't take it so long as the money was sensible.

it was a peach of a punch tho..maybe sprotty wouldnt want to risk it...auds could easily just cling for a points win and make sprotty look bad
however sprottys the one boxer with the balls to go in again
hes a diamond

Thing is I dont see a points victory over Sprott as a bad thing, since he got stopped by Skelton only Chagaev has stopped him, and he hasn't been fighting mugs, in fact id say the guys he has been in with in the last few years is a better standard of opposition than all the British heavies who have the odd knock over job between big fights. Vidoz, Virchis, Bidenko and his string of EU title wins.funso banjo baby wrote:it was a peach of a punch tho..maybe sprotty wouldnt want to risk it...auds could easily just cling for a points win and make sprotty look bad

It may be moot that we are discussing this tho, the fight might just be rescheduled. Personally Id rather he fights Sprott on the MEN bill. What would everyone else rather?

Sprott didn't exactly look like the second coming of Arturo Gatti in the Skelton rematch, did he?funso banjo baby wrote:it was a peach of a punch tho..maybe sprotty wouldnt want to risk it...auds could easily just cling for a points win and make sprotty look bad

but seriously ...any points win for auds will be a boring grabbing affair who ever he fights...auds has to come out like he did against herssisia and danny...otherwise forget it

This will only be good if Rogan manages a shock KO. Otherwise Audley will win in a boring hugging match on points

There have been more false Dawn's than a French and Saunders tribute night..
The guy has had it, and now we're talking about him fighting Martin bloody Rogan after a terrible pro career and having been spanked by Sprott, Williams and beaten by a C-rate fighter in Guinn. Shambles. And now the fight is off, surprise surprise.
I used to feel sorry for him until I had flashbacks of his post-fight interviews and remembered how much cash he was paid.

You just answered your own question pal - 'he didn't deliver'
Props to the guy for making plenty of cash for himself, but it's not the legacy he - or we - expected. We'll see what he does from now on.
