Well... I did call for him to be stripped a few minutes ago, so you can't blame me for thinking you meant me.

Zaurbek is always injured every time he has to fight Moore. He was healthy enough to fight 3 or 4 times between the 2 pullouts. Europeans don't want to come over here and fight home fighters. ala Inkin-Froch, and even Branco-Lynes (original date).
Then why doesn't Jamie go over there then? He's more than capable of ripping the title from him.

I thought there was a contract to have it in the UK. Zaurbek obviously felt the EBU was just a stepping stone. He's WBC#7 or 8, and probably it isn't worth fighting a hard southpaw in his backyard. Sensible move, but it reflects badly on him.

I would think the fight is dead in the water by now. Heard Moore has been preparing like a maniac for this fight. Very unfortunate to see this fight go.

It's a shame really, isn't it? There we are getting spived to the sum of £14.95 watching the demise of someone who is overpromoted and overhyped, whereas an honest pro like Jamie is getting the bad luck all the time. He never ducks anyone, and after that absolute classic with Macklin he is nowhere near where he should be by now.

If they said Mooresy's next fight was on PPV who would cough up? I would, because I know I'd be watching a good all-round fighter doing the business.

If he switched to FW/SN I'm sure things would move a lot faster for him. He's really stuck in a rut at the moment and I bet he's is getting very very frustrated.

I think you are letting Maloney away far too lightly here. He announced the fight (a press release which was on his website at one point and mysteriously dissapeared again last week) despite knowing that he did not have TV for it. Sky had already given the date to Warren for Marsh V Dean. Maloney must have known when he announced the fight that there was zero chance of it happening as without TV money there was no way Maloney was going to be able to pay for it.

There is definitely a lot more going on on both sides here but all I know is that Moore's career is suffering and that's a shame.
He did have SKY for it, Warren's Marsh v Dean bill was changed and is now apparently cancelled too.

No he didn't and the Manchester papers had picked up on that fact as well. Warren had secured the date although as you say his show not looks in doubt as well with the Marsh - Dean fight off although it would not surprise me if he still takes the date and finds a replacement bout.

My point about all this is people are blaming Baysangurov when I think Maloney and co need to shoulder some of the blame on this as well. They announced a fight that I'm pretty sure they knew wasn't happening. There had been a deafening silence on here recently when people had asked for updates on the fight and now just a week after announcing it, surprise, surprise it's not happening.

Fatton,
I think you're bang on the money.
I got some grief for persistantly asking for clarification due to the rumours I'd been hearing for months, not weeks or days.
There's much more to this than meets the eye.

Definitely something smells fishy - thats three times this fight has been on and then off again. But regardless feel gutted for Moore - he must be sick as a parrot. The guy must have had one of the unluckiest careers out there. But hopefully Baysangurov gets stripped and Moore fights for the vacant title. And I hope Moore gets his shot at one of the alphabet boys - Verno Phillips has yet to defend his title you know.....

Yes and I think the fact that nobody from the Moore or Maloney camp has come on to tell me I'm talking bs speaks volumes. Moore must be raging over this whole fiasco.

EBU has decided to give both teams time till Tuesday next week to come to agreement. If not, the purse bids will take place in the shortest time.

So, the fight will happen, apparently in November. I think the place will be determined by the winner of the purse bids, and personally I am not sure that Maloney will win the right to stage this fight. Don't be too surprised if the fight ends up being made somewhere in Germany or even Russia.

Why do they have to win purse bids again?

Because apparently they never did. For the fight on Dec. 8, 2007 they reached an angreement without going to purse bids. And now, neither Baysangurov, nor his promoter never signed a contract to fight on Sept. 26.

Hows this for a wildcard. Moore V baysangurov as the UK leg of Hattons sky PPV with malinaggi? All of a sudden Maloney has a nice cash injection to win the purse bids. Just a guess, and it'd be almost a year to the day the fight was supposed to happen (Dec 12th, UK leg of Hatton Floyd)

Wales,
Doesn't it annoy you though, when it is now alleged there was never a signed contract for a fight on the 26th, yet Maloney went ahead with a press release formally announcing the fight ?

Firstly, can I just say I only do a bit of writing for Steve at VIP and have no inside info on any of the shenanigans (underused word) that’ve been going on.

Didn’t the contract from December, when Baysangurov broke a cheekbone, stand and the EBU asked for the fight to take place in September? Maloney then obtained a TV deal and informed the Russians where and when the fight would take place. The Russians subsequently decided to obtain a note from Baysangurovs mum to the EBU saying he couldn’t fight. I don’t understand the bad feeling toward Maloney, he won the purse bids only for Baysangurov to pull out last December, this suited Jamie to a degree as his shoulder needed some work, although Im 99% sure he would’ve fought had Baysan not pulled out, I interviewed him a day before the pull outs on his thoughts (note to self, dig that out and re-use it in November, nobody will ever know…). The EBU then asked for the fight in September (didn’t they?), which Maloney confirmed with the Russians only for him to pull out again. The issue over press releases and informing the public is a double edged sword for frank. He doesn’t then there’s no PR and advertising for the fight. He does and everyone claims the fight was never on and he shouldn’t have. What can Frank do, kidnap the fukker? Demand he come over to the UK? Write a strong letter to his local MP?

On a personal level its annoying as Jamie is probably my favourite UK fighter at the moment, without doubt the most entertaining. Its annoying as I’d be going to the fight no matter what, wild horses wouldn’t keep me away. But lets get real, this is boxing. We all know the politics and the crap involved, none of us are ignorant to the fact the best matches don’t always get made, and sometimes, to put it bluntly, shit happens. I think what’s important now is that the EBU either give the Russians an ultimatum, or request fresh purse bids for the fight to happen no later than November 29th. Lets see what happens if Maloney wins the bid, if the Russian pulls out will the blame land at Franks door again? If the Russians win the bid then lets get that plane to Kiev and rip the title from him. Im still guessing a UK leg of the Hatton undercard could feasibly happen, providing Hattons fight is on Sky and not Setanta.

My view is that this fight was supposed to happen last December, Jamie hasn't thrown a meaningful punch since and let's face it how confident can Jamie be of actually meeting this guy in the ring between now and the end of the year. Surely there's no more than a 50 - 50 chance of the fight happening.

I note FTM's reply but it's also interesting that Steve Wood and other members of Jamie's camp who post on here regularly enough have had nothing to say on this since FTM confirmed that the fight was not happening. I don't doubt that Baysangurov produced a doctors note but is it possible that this outcome might have had FTM breathing a sigh of relief as they would have been hard pressed to go ahead with the show given that Sky were not on board and FTM were depending on another channel. Nuts, Channel M, Bravo? I don't think they would have contributed too much financially.

Does anyone really believe that Bayangurov was injured?

IF he faked the injury, why would he fake it, unless the fight was on? (I know, this hinges on the guy not really being injured.) It just seems weird, like Denis Inkin's fiasco with Froch.

That said, there always did seem to be some uncertainty with this fight.

Wales,
I am not a Maloney hater, and I rate Moore very highly.
However what is good for the goose, is good for the gander.
If I'm honest mate, FTM have got off lightly on this one.
Just imagine if this had been Wazza or Meaty Mick !!!
Any way the saying goes it's onwards and upwards - so let's hope this turns out right for Jamie.

Exactly, everyones having a dig at Maloney when in reality i the fight was never on why does Baysangurov have to produce a medical note, and why are the BBBoC looking into it along with the EBU!

Fatton: Maloney has an exclusive contract with Sky doesnt he? So Nuts, Bravo etc... is all rubbish. Also, Steve has a new press guy on board now, FTMpress, so he'll be posting less and less, otherwise whats the point in havign a press officer? Who else is involved with jamies camp who posts on here regularly? Nobody.

but mate, its the russian thats pulled out on frank... what can / could he do? Contract form dec 2007 was there and EBU said it was valid, EBU said have it in sept, both parties agreed a date, russian pulls out... ?

That'll be my last post on it now until something new surfaces, frustrating for fans and fighter.

Well if he has an exclusive contract with Sky then he had no TV for the fight because Sky had already said they were going showing Marsh V Dean on the same night so why was Maloney telling us he had TV for the Moore fight.

With regards posters Stegsie used to post as did Jamie himself. Also is FTMpress not Maloney's press guy? I thought Steve Wood and VIP were a separate entity?

FTM press posted a VIP press release on Martin Murray last week, so I think he's working for both. VIP and Maloney work very closely together.

Stegsie sends out VIP press releases, very rarely posts here otherwise.

Jamie isnt going to come on here and answer things on TV deals cracked by his promotional outfit, also, hardly a regular is he.

As for the TV, I said before, i cant answer because I dont know. If there was no TV deal they couldnt have funded the fight. If there was never a fight in the first place why is the russian providing a medical cert?

What do YOU think then? Whats the theory behind it not happening?

Terry,
No one has ever doubted Jamie's intent here - this was a big chance for him and I fully expected him to prevail.
It's the backroom goings on that are confusing.
