I look at the fight as being very useful for ryan -getting a good 12 rounds in is always helpful, as you can go back and watch what was good and not so good about your performance and make the appropriate adjustments; this coupled with another fight lined up for November is just what the doctor ordered.I bet you will see a far sharper performance then, as well.Regular fights fro ryan is what he needs as he gets sharper and sharper, so I think 12 solid rounds was a good thing.

Lastly, a 100% respect to his opponent.He took a licking and was so so brave -he can be extremely proud of himself.

i dont think it was an inspired performance by coyle at all.Taking his kids to disney land or whatever is cute and all but he looked like a loser from the start.

Yes, he looked like a loser from the start. He had little chance of winning - Ryan is just better, that's all.

But the fact he had the courage to last 12 rounds was inspired. Absolutely no question.

I viewed the fight a little like Moore vs. Facey. Coyle was an awkward, rugged opponent that refused to wilt or quit. Ryan who has had trouble with these opponents before didn't panick or try too hard to get him out of there so in that respect he fought the perfect fight - why risk chucking everything and the kitchen sink at Coyle and risk running out of steam and being stopped or being tagged with a good shot late on.

This is Rhodes last run so why take risks?

I think everyone has opponents that they struggle with and this could well be Ryan's. I'd bet on him to up his game if Small or Pryce came. I'd pick him to beat Small but would be hard to call against Pryce - thats a fight I'd love to see!

Dirk - agreed. Rhodes looked a little ponderous at times in my opinion but like several have said, this is his last throw of the dice and he can't afford to take any risks.

He would beat Small and lose to Pryce and Moore. Earlier in his career he'd have beaten Pryce and given Moore a tough time - that would have been a good fight.

But Coyle, while brave and admirable, should have been out of there earlier. Surviving for 12 rounds doesn't impress me. If anything it concerns me.

We shouldn't put too much emphasis on bravery, it's got a lot of guys hurt.

But Rhodes did his job and will move on. I wonder who's next? Small, hopefully.....

rhodes fought an aggressive fight.

except for rd 12 when he went on a little jog around the ring.

my only problem with him fighting that way is when he steps up in class.

his chin has always been a worry and he's still too open to punches.

he needs to fight a bit more defensive in my opinion.

otherwise better fighters would put him away. :(
