Next British World Champion ???
Next British World Champion ???
Who do you guys reckon will be the next British world champ (WBO,WBA,IBF,WBC) to me it aint lookin that clever, wot do ya think??
Hevayweight - Lewis (retired), hide, williams, sprott, skelton (aint good enough)
Cruiserweight - Haye, Enzo M (not ready)
Light Heavyweight - Clinton Woods (not good enough- recent 2 losses) - not gunna count joe c (cos he already holds a belt)
Super Middleweight - Reid (a possiblity), Magee (Not good enough)
Middle - Eastman (when will he get an opoortunity, seems never)
Light Middle/Welter - James Hare went off track wiv that loss, barnes (not ready), Takaloo (recent loss), jawaid Kaliq (may get a shot)
Light Welter - Hatton (cannot get the fights), Witter (may be a bad move not being wiv warren)
Super feather/Feather - Gomez (aint to sure about gomez), Brodie (just lost)
And so on and so on
When will we see a new British World Champ (Do we really have to have naz to come out of retirement or Lewis)

It all depends on what the promoters can arrange. Woods was not good enough vs Johnston, but I'd tip him (and Oboh) to beat Tiozzo.
I think Lamon Brewster is a very poor champion (thats if your counting the WBO), I would like to see Harrison or Williams fight him in the not to distant future.
I think Robin Reid or maybe a comebacking David Starie are capable of winning versions of the world championship.
Jason Cook would have a pretty decent chance against the current IBF Lightweight champion, but he's defending his belt against Diaz (so it might be a missed opportunity).

No, I don't think he bottled it - it was a close fight. He made a good start, but couldn't sustain it and then had a good ending. The scorecards (if I'm not mistaken were 7-5 to Ottke, which match my own card). I too was dissapointed, because after the first 3 rounds it look like Starie would win a wide decision. However, in my opinion Robin Reid lost the end rounds vs Ottke far wider any of the rounds Starie lost.hitman_hatton1 wrote:stujones: david stariedo u remember that limp performance he gave against sven ottke
i really believed in starie that night what a let down he totally bottled it. :x
It was a poor effort cause he SHOULD have won, but not a disgrace and considering he was coming off a shellacking by Thyse (which you must take into account) it still showed he belonged in world class - as did Robin Reid.

The cupboard looks pretty bare at the moment. Hatton is obviously capable of challenging if a fight is ever made.
Otherwise the only potential world champions I see out there are:
Robin Reid as 168 is now in flux
Eastman - but the post Hopkins era may well come too late for him
Jason Cook - if he can somehow get a shot: 135 is very weak right now
Michael Gomez - if he keeps straight and Corrales moves up or he gets a WBA shot.
None of these, apart from Hatton, are young fighters. Other prospects such as Froch, Haye, Enzo Mac and even Harrison are some way off being allowed to risk a world title shot. Khaliq and Hare have their path blocked by Spinks and Margarito, Magee would have to be very lucky indeed, Alex Arthur is the wildcard but I'm not holding my breath. Brodie is a great little fighter but time has moved on and there are too many big guns in his way at 126.
Bit depressing really.

Welcome to the forum, Gomez has got a bit more time (26) but I just don't think he is capable at the highest level. I'm surprised that Cook is 29, thought he was a few years younger.don't call it a comeback wrote:The cupboard looks pretty bare at the moment.
