No signs Vitali having chin probs but if the right shot lands with his chin up in the air hes going down, you just can't lay your chin out to dry like that. He relies on better speed, reactions, and big reach/height advantages. But hes breaking all the rules and if someone throws the right fast enough with his chin up in the air hes going down. His legs looked pretty weak to me last night too.
I'm very hopeful about Haye, but I reckon the phrase "a bridge too far" might apply in this case.

Haye does tend to reach in himself, when his feet aren't always in position. And while he has speed and athleticism to get away with this, we don't know how the extra weight will hinder him. Obviously Vitali picked the perfect fight to look good last night, but I'm no sure a former cruiserweight - no matter how good he is - is enough for this task. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm not sure Vitali is going to be around too long anyhow.

Idiot. Vitali proved himself by stopping and dominating the arguable number 2 in the division after a 4 year layoff....and you claim he's a con?

Haye is exciting but would be about 8-1 against Vitali.....

Your bitterness says lot about you.

I don't think David Haye will beat either Klitschko. He'll have a much better chance against Wlad, but he'll still get beat.

E, you're calling someon else bitter?

Anyway, i agree, Vitali came out of retirement after 4 years, to regain his Belt. Same Peters may not the best HW Champ, in arguebally the worst condition the HW Division has ever been in... so it's difficult to rate how much Vitali's title is worth

Peter was awful last night. He showed more aggression in the press conference. The heavyweight division is so sh1te. Sick of seeing fat gits fighting for world titles. They are professional sportsman in the toughest sport of all ffs.

The fight itself reminded me of Calzaghe-Lacy. Vitali played with him. Have to say I agree that he would be too much for Haye.

Vitali put in a good performance against an unbelievabley shit Peter. Why didn't he get close, rough up the old man even in the clinch, see how his body holds up? His footwork made Danny Williams look like Pernell Whitaker. Haye does have a chance with Vitali (although I wouldn't make him the favorite. He still leans straight back with his hands down asking to be hit by a hard straight right (which Haye has one of the best in the business). He is still more of a clubbing puncher, although with very hard clubs, and it will be interesting to see him in a real fight. Wonder when that will be?

Haye will have trouble landing that straight right though against someone as tall as Vitali. Haye drops the left and bends a little low as he goes to throw the straight right.

He's not that slick either, he lets guys hit him with the jab and Mormecks turtle like pressure was able to hit him alot with the right hand.

I love the way people make facile judgments after a fight without really understanding the game. Peter didn't 'get close' beacuse Vitali didn't let him. He stepped to the side, rammed a hard jab in his face.

You could make a case for Vitali being the most underrated heavy for some time. He has barely lost a round on his career, his only losses are on injury (and he was winning with one had) against Byrd, and against Lewis on a horrible cut, in a fight he surely would've won otherwise (Lennox was exhausted at the end, barely lifted his arms when it was stop- whereas Vitali was a ball of energy.)

Vitali doesn't look aesthetically good - he looks a bit clumsy and robotic..but many do not see the subtle parts of his game. He attacks from awkward angles, his timing and reflexes are really good and he hits harde ven with arm punches.

Peter was just outclassed. He tried but came up short. Very short.

I would expect Vitali to stop Haye qucikly unfortunately. David has a small chance against Wladimir due to Wlad's chin.......But David has not yet taken a heavyweight's punch out of sparring and I think Wlad would stop him in 5 max.

I believe most people are so negative about the Klits and heavyweight boxing in general because the Klits lack the controversial, abrasive personalities that people expect in the heavies.

I also think the so-called 70s glory days were overrrated skill-wise. They were great in terms of drama, excitement and news....but some of the guys fighting at the top level were awful. Look at who ALi/Frazier/Foreman defended against.

I think KEn Norton was a good fighter and would oobviosuly have access to modern training methods, roids aetc but I he would get blasted out or overwhelmed by Bowe, Lewis, either Klit. Just too big. Frazier as well probably. He would look like a dwarf.

What an excellent post :box: I think both Klitshkos are vastly underated, they are both very effective at what they do and yet are constantly criticised by the media and the public. I really don,t see what theyve done to deserve it.
I realise they are not always pleasing to watch style wise but do people really expect todays modern giants to be bobbin n weavin throwing short explosive hooks n uppercuts a la Tyson?

Boring fight! Peter was Taylor made for Vitalis style, because he was just too slow to close the gap. Vitalis excellent at what he does, but he bores me almost as much as his brother

.
No, Peter doesn;t have the ability to close the gap or the head movement to evade Vitali's telegraphed shots. Beating Vitali isn't that hard, step in quickly with jabs and rights, slip his jab and throw right counters to the body head, punch in combination at mid and close range to the body and head, back him up and hes fucked. If Sanders wasn't a 2round fighter he would have had Vitali but he was doen after 2rounds. In today's heavyweight division few can do these basic techniques but 1 man in Haye will and will KO Vitali. Wlad is a harder style for Haye but he should KO him too.

Not as confident as you are mate, but yes, I broadly have to agree with you. I think Haye certainly has a chance; Lewis's chin wasn't exactly cast-iron was it, & he didn't do too badly against the Elder Klit. Also, I cannot see the "unbeatable fighter" that others here are raving about. & frankly anyone will go if you catch them right. It don't matter if they're King Kong, Vitali Klitschko or Godfvckingzilla...

BTW: Not, actually, just put in to annoy the Klit-huggers, though it will, as they all seem terribly sensitive on behalf of someone who's six-&-a-half feet tall (isn 't that odd? Wonder why): find some footage of Jess Willard. It's eerie man, I tell you; not only the size but the clumsy effectiveness & employment of the physical tools...

Humm, ok Peter's plodding forward with very little movement of any kind let alone head movement in straight lines was all down to Klitschko? He is hardly elusive mate and his legs are still that of a 37 year olds, unfortunately Peter was fighting through treacle.

I'm actually a Wlad fan because he has some real boxing skills that I just don't see in Vitali and a combination of both brothers would be a hell of a fighter. Sure Vitali is tough and strong with power in his arm punches like you said but the reason Peter looked shit is because he was shit.

But I still think is Vitali could stay fit he could be the best in the division, but i'm still not convinced how his body stands up to a tough fight, after all those training breakdowns I don't believe he is suddenly 100%.

Also I would never back the Klitschko's against Frazier, a fighter who would have definitely got on the inside against Vitali on Saturday. Frazier fought exactly how fat Peter should have, in no way did weighing 40 odd pounds more help Peter outside of him taking more punishment.

Yes agree Vitali is very underrated, that awkward style and big right hand would be a handful for just about anyone. I had cash on him to get Peter out of there quick, but Sam showed a much better chin than expected, give him that. But that's all he had - the man had absolutely no chance in there, and I don't blame him for for avoiding another 4 round battering.

He looked confident before the first bell, but after 3 minutes it looked like he had no plan at all, but I guess they must have been banking on catching a rusty and slow Vitali at some point.

Bunce was talking bollox in saying Peter should be ashamed - he wouldn't say the same about a Brit fighter, that's for sure. The man was just outclassed.

I doubt we'll see Vitali in action again somehow, but if we do, Booth will keep Haye well away from him.

Hands up all of those who agree with E's above hypothesis that Vitali Klitschko is one of the most underrated fighters of all time and that Joe Frazier would be "blasted out or overwhelmed" by either Klitschko.

No can those with raised hands please leave and never come back and exclude themselves from all boxing conversation and analysis in the future.

Thanks.

Vitali is a lot better than Willard, who was a big lumbering farmhand who took to boxing.

Vitali is a very good athelete, he has a tremendous chin, good power, and most of all, he knows how to make the most of his physical advantages. Frazier would struggled to reach Vitali, who has a huge reach and knows how to use his height to make it even harder to overcome.

Vitali is also good on the inside, where he knows how to wrestle and hold. A big problem for an inside fighter like Frazier.

Liston would have been big enough and with a long enough reach, but Frazier, I think not.
