Not a contradiction at all. It was a struggle for Appleby throughout, he lacked consistency, variety and authority in his work and looked tired down the stretch. That he gritted it out against a seasoned domestic level operator spoke volumes about Appleby's ability to grind out a result but the absence of quality, against a guy who has found his level, also suggested that Appleby has indeed found his.

Appleby is still a baby, the fact that he beat a seasoned domestic level operator over 12 so soon into his career said enough for me. Not saying he'll definitely rise much further but it's a bit too soon to be writing him off no?

I would like to see Appleby vs Simpson 2 - it was very close, and I think both could have performed better. Wasn't it a somewhat dodgy KD that gave Appleby the title? Not saying the ref wasn't wrong, but it really was more a balance thing.

I have read on numerous websites that this fight is going to happen in November, what are you opinions? In mine Appleby needs to handle a guy like Bell easy if he wants to move on to bigger and better things. Bell is more interested in acting than boxing and he's not that good at either.

It's now or never for Bell IMO. Nice boxer, just seems to be lacking in a couple of areas at this level. Should be a decent match between two skilled boxers.
