Well he can't feast on Ottke's leftovers anymore.bugs wrote:I like Joe Calzaghe, I think he has good head movement, fast hand and hits hard. That with a pretty good killer instinct says that he is a great fighter. I think he would trouble anybody around his weight, i.e. Midle to light heavy, it is a shame that he is managed by Warren, who has not secured the best fights for him, but I think you are all being a little ridiculous when you question his quality, he fought good fighters as well as bad, but who hasn't, After he stops Johnson he will hopefully go on to knock out Tarver, as long as Taver doesn't join everyone else in the Heavyweights.
Feel free to blast me now
bugs I have to say mate JC has fought no one of the top echelon.bugs wrote:I like Joe Calzaghe, I think he has good head movement, fast hand and hits hard. That not my take mate, ottke didnt want to fight Joe that was plain but Joe shouldnt have said "ill fight him anywhere" then not gone to gemrany to do it, he should have made ottke fight him for the belts that weas his reward not the money.bugs wrote:I still wonder who it is you wish he would fight? It was clear that Joe would go to Germany to fight Ottke and pay Ottke a million pounds. He offered to Fight Ottke in Germany, it was Ottke who was ducking ?Joe, not vice versa.
Why do you think Johnson is so tought, but not Sheika?
Yes, excellent point. And excellent knowledge. However, the Sheika loss suffered by Johnson really was a blatant robbery in Sheika's Philadelphia base. I'm starting to wonder whether the cute Johnson might be able to shock Calzaghe on June 12, given the Welshman's recent late night workouts.bugs wrote:But Sheika beat Johnson
I was in Cardiff in February for his fight and a local girl told me that it's not just the late night work-outs where Joe's been a naughty boy. I was most disappointed.bennie wrote:Yes, excellent point. And excellent knowledge. However, the Sheika loss suffered by Johnson really was a blatant robbery in Sheika's Philadelphia base. Come on, Deserter. Calzaghe looked better than ever in his last fight, for sure (Mkrtchian). I've been hearing a few reports of Joe's after-fight activities in and around Cardiff, but they haven't affected his career to date. Every time Joe has been tested (Delaney, Eubank, Mitchell, Reid), he's come through.bugs wrote:Yeah maybe, but I think you are over-estimating Johnson, he may have been robbed, but probably no more than he was robbed against Woods in the first fight, he looks a little lethargic and two dimensional, and that was against woods! Whose middle names are lethargic and two dimensional!
I think Johnson may be a tough, but Calzaghe is a class operator and while I understand all the critisism of Hatton, I really dont get Calzaghe being lumped in the same boat. And in reply to multiple entries above, Calzaghe said he would go to Germany to fight Ottke.
Still however anyone thinks, I am really looking forward to the fight on the 12th, although I am watching it with siblings who are not boxing fans, usually I would be with my armchair boxing clique:o)
Johnson was smart in the rematch, showed all his experience. He jumped on Woods and hurt the lanky Sheffield man in the second round, then never let him recover.jamesmcdonnell wrote:From what I hear from American contacts, Johnson was totally shafted against Sheika. I also think he clearly beat Woods in the first fight.
A friend of Clinton Woods' told me at the Carl Thompson fight, that Woods admitted himself in the dressing room after the fight that Johnson should have gotten a clear decision, and that tells you something.
