Tarver by KO2 or TKO2?

Post by HOGBEAR »

I posted this in the Current section, but I have a feeling it'll garner a bunch or moronic replies, so I'm also posting it here.

The AP and the WBA Online report it was a TKO2, but boxrec and FightNews report (correctly, in my opinion) that Nady got to 10, and thus it was a KO2. I think Buffer also announced that it was a KO.

What is the correct result, and what does boxrec base its KO2 result on?

Is the criterion for a KO the fighter not being on his feet at 10? I think Jones was on his feet at 10, but clearly very unsteady. Strictly an academic question, of course.

As far as I know, if the fighter is unable to get to his feet by 10, it's a KO. A TKO is any other kind of stoppage.

I think Nady got to 10. Buffer's comments sort of indicate this; I think he'd be announcing exactly what Nady told him to.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission recorded it as a "KO 2". Unless they change it, that's the way it should be recorded.

A downed boxer has to be up & ready to box before the count of 10 (i.e. 7, 8, 9, Box).
In referee's opinion he wasn't & therefore was counted out, which = KO
