Tell you something, I reckon Paquiao is a bit of an animal. He's one of those fighters, like Tyson, who is electrifying to watch training. He looks sensational.

The closer this fight gets, the more I think PAquiao has a crack.

It's certainly not as clean cut as people make out.

As an aside, can somebody tell me about why Freddie Roach thinks that Nacho Beristain is "an asshole" and what he said to make Freddie say "the guy disrespected me and I don't like him."

I decided to find out.
Nacho Beristain did not take kindly to what he perceives to be Roach’s disrespecting De La Hoya and he took his younger counterpart to task for it Saturday.

“I’m very disappointed in Freddie Roach,’’ Beristain said. “I consider him a very good trainer but he lost his ethics. To talk about about his ex-boss is not right. Maybe of he can’t pull the trigger it’s because Roach could not exploit his talent?’’

As Beristain’s words in Spanish were translated, Roach appeared to get more than a little agitated at what Beristain had to say. Twice he hollered to him, waving his arm in a dismissive gesture. It was the kind of momentary flare up of emotion one was supposed to see after a week spent too often seeing someone you will soon be trying to punch in the lip.

Manny's last three opponents along with the time frame he faced them in is pretty formidable.

In boxing terms Manny Pac is the most significant player on the elite world scene. He has been for the past few years IMO. He offers something that's different that only JMM can work out. I dont like the matchup with ODLH in all honesty but heh ho - you have to take what is given.

I think you are wrong, apparently Roach had at one time given his time for free in the past re: Pacman and others.

I am sure he gave away $1M at one time. I believe Roach. Do not forget - he has a bigger daily battle then money and he said himself he lives simple life. I think he lives above his gym despite being a Millionaire.

Regardless, Roach knows that Pacman is not the type of person who will pay him nothing if they lose so his comment, even if he means it, doesn't hold any true weight because he knows he is going to get paid anyway. Watch and see.
How do you know Pacman is like that?

There is nothing to stop Roach giving the money to charity.

Just watched the first episode on HBO's web site - nice to see grizzled vet Daniel Zaragoza in Oscar's camp. I wonder what his role is?

HBO are top notch documentary makers - they can transform a fight into a 'cant miss event'

When DLH v Pac Man was announced I thought it was cynical peice of match making by the Golden Boy (and still do, to a greater extent).

No wonder these docs are hosted free for all to see though; I am now begining to think 'I cant watch this fight on tape delay - I neeed to be watching live!'.. :D

Sparring partner is definitely part of it, as a 5'7" southpaw.

YA reckon??..

A 51 year old sparring partner who hasnt boxed pro in over ten years is hardly the right kind of opponent to sharpen your tools against.

I know Oscar like the odds stacked in his favour where he can get them, back that is just taking the piss!! :D

Edit: I can't find the exact article. They may have got it completely wrong. This is the best I can find right now: http://66.102.9.132/search?q=cache:_fiZ ... =firefox-a
