The Napa v Moffett British title fight set the bar so low for what is acceptable by Sky and the BBBofC that anything will be OK'd now. Appleby v Pickering is certainly better than that, although you would hope that people would actually earn a shot.

I seem to remember that the recent Lindsay v Matthews fight was billed as a "final eliminator" for the British title.

Is there any good reason why Lindsay isn't getting a crack at the title?

Veteran ex-champs have always had title shots handed out to them and it's not that much different here. Maybe the extra 4 pounds will help Pickering a bit. His experience alone should present some problems for Appleby, even if physically he's a faded force. How much worse is Pickering as a challenger for the British title, than Steven Foster is challenging for a World title ?

Appleby on points.

Perhaps they put him in with Mauricio Martinez?
