As I recall, I was warned about the "big power" he carried, but did not find that to be so. He was however quite fast. I imaging he could be a very good fighter, but my flurry and move style I think gave him alot of difficulty. Also, in the 2nd round I hurt him and had his eye swelling shut, which most likely changed the overall course of the fight greatly. It may not be a good Idea for most to stand in front of him and trade though.
Beside him I never fought any other english fighter, except a fighter named Moorehouse years ago on Jersey Island.
Uk fighters however, I had the opportunity to fight Ken Egan, Michael Allen, "something" Moran, and Steve Mcguire.
Thanks, that "real power" wasn't a myth, the season you boxed him he stopped all of his opponents bar one (the excellent Sam Webb) on the way to the ABA light-middle title, culminating in a stoppage of future Commonwealth games silver medallist Steven Birch.
Speaking of Commonwealth games medallists, yoour countryman, Jean Pascal looks a bit special, have you boxed him? and what do you think of him?

I fought him also when I was a bit inexperienced back at the 2001 Canadian championships, in the 156lbs final (before the thirlwall fight). We had a very exciting bout in which I dropped a points decision.
The highly anticipated bout of the 2003 championships was the rematch between us, (since he had to move up to my 165lbs after the weight changes), but CABA talked and pleaded me to move up to light heavyweight to avoid their losing one of us.
Pascal is a very strong explosive fighter. But, is very likely to be outdone by boxers who stick and move. To stand in front of him is foolish. his punches are also 85% hooks.

Thanks again Walchuk, a slick Scottish switch-hitter, Craig McEwan similarly a mover outpointed him, whilst an aggressive box-fighter, Paul Smith tried to fight him and was outpointed.
By the way, have you turned pro or are you gonna turn pro?

Yes. I have turned pro and am 2-0 thus far. But havent decided if I shall rest at middle or super middle. Unfortunately to this point I am having great troubles finding willing opposition here in Canada, thus my so far unbearably slow progression.

Your adrenaline will be pumping so much that pain will be the last thing you will be thinking about as your opponent is standing in front of you.

1999
W Vidal Paz, PNW Regionals Portland OR.
L Antonio Rodrigues US Championships Colo. Spgs. Antonio was a two time US Champion, he KO'ed Cornelius Locke the previous year
L Aaron Garcia, National Golden Gloves, Syracuse NY. Garcia was the top guy around for awhile.

This is Jérémy Thompson, not sure if you remember but we fought a while back. I haven't fought in 2 yrs or so though.
Ah yes I remember fighting you back in the 90s. You must have had over 100 amateur fights I would think. What did your record end up being?
