Bunceys Boxing Hour is Excellent
Re: Bunceys Boxing Hour is Excellent
The sold out crowds perhaps? The millions of people watching on prime time TV?

Don't know about more money - but more reliable money certainly. PPV figures are relatively small compared with free to air channels, and not that reliable.
In germany, they can guarantee viewing figures of several million for a boxing match - I presume that the network pays highly for the advertising revenue.
You have to take into account however, the multi-million dollars the casinos throw into the pot in America. Vegas fights are probably still the most lucrative overall.

The problem with Bunce is he never engages his brain before talking. For instance, in his last show, he points out at the start that Jones caught Calzaghe with his forearm when he knocked him down, then later goes on a 5 minute rant about "Jones doesn't look at Calzaghe when he's down because he can just feel that he's out from how the punch landed".
Eh? You just said he missed.

How could he not tell? Smack someone with your fist or your arm - you know. Also, Bunce's point was about how good the punch felt. If it didn't connect properly on the knuckles, he knows.

Sauerland, Kohl and the Klitschkos have huge guarantees from German TV which puts them in a situation that other promoters can only dream of. It means they can develop their fighters really quick and is also why all the Klitschkos German fights (RTL gives them a fortune - it is the only sport they have along with F1, I believe) over the last two years, when they have had deals with HBO (Byrd, Austin, Brewster, Peter, Thompson, Rahman) have all been prime time in Germany, not prime time US.
Re: Bunceys Boxing Hour is Excellent
Another Excellent jam packed show from the Buncester yesterday, it truly is any Boxing fans trade show where you get to here it all from the horses mouth
The brief highlights:
Warren has a couple of shows lined up in Feb and March which he'll be showcasing his new Olympians on (one in Brum) he wants them to fight 6-8 times this year and FW also commented on how fighters get to title level alot quicker these days than they did in the past, so hopefully we're not going to see a long drawn out Hatton type rise to the top.
Adam Booth was interviewed he said that Wladimir is the fight that seems the most likely for Haye and that they're in talks at the moment, but there still seems quite a way to go. He was also commenting on how highly he rates Martin Lindsay and he was talking about the Belfast bill. Lindsay-Appleby is a gonna be a cracking fight and it was mentioned (by Buncey I think) how he's paying Appleby a fortune to travel with his title, excellent aggressive matchmaking by Hayemaker and Lindsay
Mick Hennessey is in negotiations with Taylor and con at the moment about getting Carls mandatory fight setup with him, he restated that Carl is willing to travel to the US. He also confirmed Witter Vs Devon Alexander as has already been mentioned on here and he's excited about the Battle of the Blues fans in Elcock Vs Macklin with the winner possibly going onto to fight Barker.
Frank Maloney was interviewed saying that Darren Sutherlands next outing is on Jamie Moore Vs Michelel Piccirillo bill (for the Euro title) that's going out from Manchester. He's also saying that he and Brian Peters (no love lost between them to) will be in talks if Munroe can beat Martinez again in Feb.
Dennis Hobson was interviewed about Tony Jeffries saying that he hoped to be able to harness the Sunderland FC support when showcasing Tony, he also comented that there could be other olympian signings in the not too distant
Kelle Sauerland was also interviewed on the show (his English is alot better than mine) it looks liek Setanta have some sort of contract with Sauerlan to show their fights. They couldn't get Barry Hearn on the show because he was too busy, he's got Truscott-Simpson coming up soon (as well as another bill I can't remember) and he's got 2 prizefighters coming up in Feb and March

Re: Bunceys Boxing Hour is Excellent
Yeah was a good show with lots of good information coming out from all the promoters across the 3 channels currently showing boxing. No obvious bias towards Setanta fight which is one of the great things about the show, waxing lyrical about Froch as well as giving us a full update on future prizefighter events, when, where and at what weights. They are doing a great marketing job for Sky and especially events on ITV which could fall under the radar for a lot of people.
And it still makes me laugh hearing Warren talk about Enzo Maccarinelli. Don't forget he had Haye cut before he clipped him
DD doesn't sound so good for Pryce and Rees as far as getting fights for Warren is concerned. Definitely seems like the former world champion who has never won a world title fight, Alex Arthur will be fighting Khan sooner rather than later.

Re: Bunceys Boxing Hour is Excellent
Finally downloaded this onto my Ipod and it was a cracking show. Is Norton vs. Dolan definately happening? Should be a cracking fight if so.
Re: Bunceys Boxing Hour is Excellent
Hey lads remember to watch today as it may be particularly excellent. Starts at 2pm
Re: Bunceys Boxing Hour is Excellent
ffs bunce has already called it a superfight. I thought sky would be the first to mention that garbage
Re: Bunceys Boxing Hour is Excellent
Watched yesterday's evening re-run on Setanta; great programme as usual.
Can anyone shed light on what was said on air as the commercial break cut in (edited in the repeat) for which Buncey and co. were highly apologetic?

He called himself a "fat bastard" when he thought he was off air.

Cheers, Dioufy.
I was (in a voyeuristic kind of way) hoping it would be something more salacious than that!!

To be honest, I still think Barerra fits into the Super Fight bracket, but Khan doesn't.metropol wrote:ffs bunce has already called it a superfight. I thought sky would be the first to mention that garbage
I think if Jaun Diaz hadn't lost to Nate Campbell, then Diaz vs Barerra 2009 was a superfight.

I didn't see the show, but I am not sure why Wayne would be gutted at that. I'm sure the WBA could be swayed if Dunne wins to sanction about.
Well actually thinking about it, I was about to say - if they can sanction Holyfield... but Wayne might have less of a claim.

He didnt really say anything it was at the end of the show. He was talking about the fight with dunne and then dunne came on and burst his bubble and the presenter said bye to wayne and wayne sounded very shocked
Re: Bunceys Boxing Hour is Excellent
I swear, you young uns in 20 years time will be reminiscing about shows like today's...fecking genius. Absolute class. Eubank, Booth, Price, Groves, Maguire, Morrison, McCullough, Dunne, Brook...I've almost certainly forgotten someone. In an hour. With adverts. Mental.
