Re: Amir Khan
Seeing as it's on topic, Amir Khan's height is incorrect. He should be listed at 5' 9" tall.
Please see the following video for Amir Khan and Martin Kristjansen next to each other. They are very nearly the same height. On Boxrec Khan is listed at 5' 10" and Kristjansen at 5' 7½"!!!
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OuQurD7niBY
Kristjansen should be listed at 5' 8" at the minimum. 5' 8½" would be preferable.

Re: Amir Khan
the changes made to British counties in 1974 were purely political and made to aid administration in those areas ie local government, voting and postal addresses. Bolton for instance was, is and always will be in Lancashire but for admin reasons will come under Greater Manchester. In truth Liverpool should also be classed as being in Lancashire but is always entered in Boxrec, understandably, as being part of Merseyside which only exists in the minds of local government beaurocrats. I think you will find most Boltonians consider themselves to be born and bred Lancastrian no matter what lines are drawn on the maps in local government offices.
Re: Amir Khan
Kristjansen is 172cm, and it will not get changed.Asterix wrote:Seeing as it's on topic, Amir Khan's height is incorrect. He should be listed at 5' 9" tall.

Re: Amir Khan
"is and always will be in Lancashire" - that is completely incorrect. The boundaries of counties, provinces and countries change all the time and the records need to reflect that. Maybe older people still say they are in Lancashire but younger people dont. Bolton has been in Greater Manchester for the whole of Khans life. Liverpool is in Merseyside, Bolton is in Greater Manchester etc. No matter what older people might "feel" shouldnt we go on what the actual place in called. Accurate recordsTom wrote:the changes made to British counties in 1974 were purely political and made to aid administration in those areas ie local government, voting and postal addresses. Afterall with dont say the Wembley is still in Middlesex we say its in London.
Re: Amir Khan
What about Khan? If you look at the video I've provided Khan and Kristjansen are no more than a centimetre apart, height-wise.Freiheit wrote:Kristjansen is 172cm, and it will not get changed.Asterix wrote:Seeing as it's on topic, Amir Khan's height is incorrect. He should be listed at 5' 9" tall.

We do not recognise the existence of Greater Manchester nor have they made official application to us to be recognised.

BoxRec recognises Greater London, why not Greater Manchester?
Re: Amir Khan
The regions are in the system solely to discriminate between places of the same name, ie Newport, Gwent / Newport, Shropshire and more importantly to make the selection of locations easier for the editors. Having a USA drop down box with 7000 town/cities is not practicable. The geographic basis is convenience and convention not currency. Most countries in the database do not have regions allocated.
