Today, we were given the wonderful news that the transplant was a complete success with no trace of the cancer in her body
May I, through this forum, thank the many people that have supported us through the dark days. And believe me, there were MANY bad days.
At boxing shows I have been approached by complete strangers asking about Esmes condition. Ian Darke even mentioned her a couple of times on TV. I have had countless messages from all kinds of people in the boxing game wishing her well. From 4 rounders to World Champions, trainers, managers, promoters etc. To them all, I say "THANK YOU". I may come across as a hard bastard sometimes in the ring, but some of the messages of support that I have received have reduced me to tears. One in particular at Christmas from a guy whose initials are DC ( he knows who he is) was particularly poignant.
I would also like to thank my great mates Howard Foster and Dave Parris. Their constant phone calls and text messages were fantastic. On bad days, I would call them and pour my heart out. Thanks for listening guys.
With all its faults, boxing is still the greatest sport in the world with the greatest people involved in it.
Thank You.
