I doubt we will ever see a show like last nights MEN one for a long while. Great show, big undercard and three/four big fights, all of which could be a main event in it's own right.

But I can't see it again for a long time now! I'd suspect more conservative matahcmaking again, with a single "Main Event" and support being more along the lines of perhaps a single commonwealth/WBU level bout.

Absolutely disagree. Economic realities mean that people are going to be less likely to fork out for monthly Sky subscriptions, less likely to spend on PPV, and more selective about the fights they pay to go and see live.

It stands to reason, therefore, that promoters will have to work harder to attract people. They'll have to put on more attractive shows, with more competitive fights and more recognizable names, if they're to really coax people to part with their money in these times.

Watch this year be one of the very best for boxing.

I cancelled Sky Sports 2 months ago and will ONLY ever pay for a odecent PPV and that means at least 3 decent fights........at least!

Anthing less and I am watching a free stream as I did for Khan Vs Prescott!

Indeed- likewise the last show at the NIA was great too- some top qualiy action. Shame that the hayemkaer bill has gone soggy, otherwise it could have rounded off a great 4 weeks of Saturday fights.

Warren and Sports Network get slated enough, they eserve loads of credit for this promotion.

Maloney has put some great fights on recently, but he can't quite compete with an event like this yet.

Great show Sports Network, and for once I didn't begrudge paying the 15 quid.

Yeah credit where its due a good bill. Promotors need to please the public and the TV companies so I think things are beginning to look up. Wish FFN was a bit more exciting like it used to be. Warren remains the number one.

I was going to say the same thing, although Pryce wasn't the home boxer, he WAS the Champion, it was a fight card which saw some surprises.

Big Enz, Nicky Cook and Bradley Pryce's careers have taken a bad knock last night.

But Warren's still got guys with potential coming through e.g Kell Brook, Denton Vassell, Anthony Crolla, Derek Chisora and Paul Smith is not far from me a really decent fight.

I think if they're aasking us to pay PPV, then it might carry on like this, FW fighters in dangerous fights.

Then again, now that Khan has "stopped a legend", Khan can perhaps fight lesser ppl and still justify PPV. it will be interesting to see if he gets away with it.

Thats the trouble though, it needs a sea-change in mode of operation from Warren to sustain nights like last night. He needs to stop being a manager of fighters, where the investment is longer term and he has to focus on keeping a fighter unbeaten.

As a pure promoter, nights like last night are entirely within Warren's grasp because 3 defeats in 4 headline bouts is a shocker for Frank on his current set-up but would not have the downsides if the fighters status, future potential weren't so contractually central to his profit line. It would be all about that night, and perhaps, the next one. And less about navigating a fighter to WBO title without risk and then 5 easy defences. Repeat.

If he just approached the manager's of a fighter with a potential match-up and a purse, he wouldn't be tied to the victor and would be entirely more useful to a television network one would suspect.

As I've said before, the dual position of manager and promoter is as big a problem for boxing as sanctioning bodies and it doesn't begin and end with Warren but he's the highest profile in the UK.

Of the defeated fighters, I suspect Pryce will be rise the best from his defeat.

Maybe he will pair him up with the Olympians on future bills? I don't think that'll be enough to satisfy PPV though.
