It would be so good for both him and the game.
It wouldn't be that good. It might raise exposure of the sport for a few fights, but at the end of the day Tyson winning the title again would make him and the promoters a few big bucks, but would also make the heavyweight division look like a joke if some old codger was beating the best the world had to offer.

But saying that, this may be just coz I don't like Tyson. I probably wouldn't say the same if Holyfield won gold again, even though I've got as much chance of winning it as he has.
If Holyfield won again it would be bad for the sport. Having a HW champ with slurred speech does the sport no good. Chances are, if Holyfield carries on, he's gonna end up shuffling. I hope i'm wrong.

Tysons 38, articulate, refreshingly honest and can still punch. He has less mileage on the clock than most other Heavyweights and although nowhere near as good as he was years ago, I'd bet he could, with a good training camp, give every HW out there a stiff argument.

Good luck to him.

Hell, Lewis is even older than Tyson.

no prison hard man is kicking Mikes ass in a street fight... you gotta be a professional athlete (wrestler, MMA, thai boxer) to even stand a chance.....

see what happened to Mitch Green, and he was a hard mutha himself

of course if someones sneaks up on your with a tool you are in trouble
Totally agree. Put tools and stuff to one side and no man unless a trained pro fighter would stand a chance with Mike Tyson until he gets to about 60.

My favourite Tyson jail story concerns the mofos who wanted to brag about kicking his ass that James mentioned. It was Christmas and Tyson, with a little entourage, was making the gesture of handing out some presents to fellow inmates.

A rival gang felt this was the last straw 'Who does he think he is?' type of shit and they attacked Tyson's gang. It was all over very quickly as Tyson KOd a couple, especially the leader in brutal fashion.

He then turns round with a smile and says: "Merry Christmas! Anyone want some snacks?" :D

Plus, even though he is shot, I can definitely see him beating Vitali. Are you trying to say he couldn't get past his lightning jab and fleet footedness?

I had a very vivid bad dream last night, I kid you not. For some reason I had agreed to fight Mike Tyson.

Walking into the arena hours before the fight, the penny finally dropped that I was in with the man himself very soon with thousands watching.

I even went to his dressing room to try and get out of it - I had no pride, I didn't give a fornicate I just wanted to live...LIVE I SAY!!!...to no avail. I woke up in a sweat before I even got in the ring.

He still has an unbelievable aura of intimidation for all but the top drawer fighters - only Holyfield and Lewis have managed to cope with the mental side.

Tyson Ko Williams early.

Anyone ever have that dream where they get offered a fight with Danny Williams, and they can't be bothered to turn up?

Let me just make this clear...Just because someone is a pro boxer,MMA fighter or Thai boxer that does in noway make them a hardman on the streets...I know a few pro;s who will be the first to admit that there are plenty of people they know who can kick the shit out of them in a street fight...

Alot of people who do not really know any real hard fuckers on the street often make the assumption that "wow he is a fighter he must be really hard....It doesnt work like that unfortunately believe me...

Obviously Tyson isnt your average fighter but it is sompletely feasible that there sre guys in the one that could whup his arse..

I agree with HH, agreed someone in a fist fight with Tyson is gonna struggle bbut theres fuckeres out there who would shank you quicker than look at you, that doesnt necessarily make you hard but it does make you nuts. Its all about how far you would go I suppose.

Those photos don't tell us jack to be honest: The Greatest looked a million dollars before the bell rang against Holmes. Stories from the gym of Mike sparring two rounds, then pulling up in agony with a bad back, tell another story.

Still, I'm getting the strong feeling that Mike wont need more than a couple of rounds to deal with Danny. I think a first round KO for Tyson might be on the cards. He's still very fast coming out the gate, and I can see him clattering Williams with a few punches - early.

What about that tale Katz had to tell - about Mike saying he had a few hits off a joint, in the dressing room - before heading to the ring! Jesus! :o Wonder what fight that was? Golota maybe?

i cant believe he was smoking pot before he went in there? That woudl surely make you lax and lethargic rather than mean and sharp. Unless of course there was some kind of upper in the spliff, crack or coke perhaps then thats a different story.

Sounds unbelievable doesn't it, but with Tyson I tend to believe it. Probably would've given him a high for 20 mins or so, then the lethargy would kick in - but the fight was probably over by then!
Not exactly giving yourself an advantage though.

He probably wanted to give himself a bit of a "challenge" I guess. Bit like Roy playing a basketball game, the same day as a fight.
Both pretty mad ideas.

No, I don't see Tyson beating Vitali at all. Vitali is just and big as strong as Lewis, and Tyson get's discouraged when he cannot intimidate someone. Vitali won't intimidate, and takes a hell of a shot. Tyson would also have murders getting

The old Tyson would have 'murderised' him, but the old Tyson is gone, never to return. I don't care if Freddie Roach puts horseradish up his arse, he isn't going to have the speed he once has, and that is going to make him vulnerable against big fighters with a good chin

It's so easy to get seduced by the Tyson mythology all over again, but even if he is in better shape this time around he's a 38 year old small heavyweight with questionable mental strength.

Vitali did a good job of wrestling with Lewis on the inside, and Lewis was visibly struggling with Vitali's strength, for the first time in his career, he was in against someone who could match him for strength and leverage. Vitali did look vulnerable in his next fight against Sanders, but took those shots well, and at this stage Sanders arguably has greater one punch power, and faster hands than Tyson, and is also the bigger man.

It is worth bearing in mind that Vitali is 9 inches taller than Tyson.

I think it was Goloata, and because he tested posative for cannabis they changed the result from a Tyson win to a no contest.

James - I had actually overlooked Vitali's effectiveness on the inside. But don't you think there were times he shit himself against Sanders? I mean, really looked concerned when he was tagged? He does take a decent shot but he is a 21st century version of Primo Carnera (pushing it, I know) and I honestly think it would be live for a few rounds.

Although, I could be allowing myself to be seduced (not for the first time)!

Yes, he did look very freaked at times, but importantly, never stopped firing back, and gave as good as he got. I don't think Vitali is a massive puncher in the truest sense of the word, he's an arm puncher, but his clubbing shots would smother Tyson on the inside. Despite the fact that Tyson is aggressive on the inside, he has never been very effective, and likes to have his arms free to work. He's not good at keeping the arms pumping on the inside, and I think that Vitali's weight and strength would be a big problem.

Who can forget Tyson's words between rounds when losing to Lewis.

"I can' do ith, heeth too big, too thtrong"

I have a feeling the same thing would be said against Vitali. However I would equate him with Primo too, with better fundamentals and balance and better physical conditioning.

I dont give tyson much of a chance against Vitali to be honest.
As Ive stated before I wouldnt be overtly surpsied if Williams pulls off a shock next weekend so that puts it in perspective.

A guy on ibopboxing.com has done a very good dissection of this fight and what Williams has to do. H egoes further than the usual 'Williams mind', 'Survive the first round' cliches we've all spouted.

Thats exactly what came to mind when I was watching the fight. I think what makes him reminisent of Carnera is the ungainly unathletic-looking way he was moving round the ring against Sanders and the way he would paw out with his left hand rather than thowing jabs. Although I agree that he is not as bad a fighter as Carnera. And he is not owned by The Mafia, as far as i know anyway.

That person wouldn't happen to be one David Payne would it David Payne?

I must concur with your conclusions, I've said much the same thing albeit with less detail on the actual fight over at max. Danny has to punish Tyson for his mistakes early on and keep him from closing the range.

Danny has an excellent and authoratitive jab, but has a bad habit of standing and posing instead of throwing it. He always seems to try and counterpunch, when he isn't really a natural counterpuncher. He would be much better served in pumping that jab out for the first few, and as you say, follow it with straight rights. Trouble is, Danny seems to like the left hook, and that isn't an easy shot to tag Mike with, and one he likes to counter by swaying out of the way and landing his own.

I think Danny needs to use his right hand more than we have seen lately, but my guess is that he just won't throw enough shots to win, he'll pose and stand still too much and allow Mike to get his shots off.

I agree though that if Danny is in good nick, past 6 rounds I would make him evens to win it, provided he hasn't been bashed up and demoralised by that point.

The interview with him at max confirms this as their battle plan. Worryingly though, they are counting on Mike becoming tired after four rounds, and the going for the kill.....!!

What if Tyson is actually in proper shape and doesn't tire, what then?

Danny just has to move move move in the early stages. It's the only way he'll stay in the fight. He has good footwork when he chooses to use it, I damn well hope he does.
