I think the reason many are pissed off is because he was brutally knocked out two fights ago. He really doesn't deserve it but then again neither do a lot of the fighters who get a title shot now a days. I didn't think Dunne did, but he won, and Naz did too, despite never fighting at featherweight previously. Khan has a big frame and I think he will win this, but I am curious to see what he will do after (if he wins of course). The number one contender Salita would be a realistic fight that he would probably win, but eventually he will have to take on Maidana or Ortiz, and Im not sure Frank would let him do that, especially if its Ortiz.

Why do so many people think Ortiz has earned a chance? He is as much a Golden Boy hype job as Khan is a allegedly allegedly one.
Who's he beaten? Maussa, who was hopeless, Emmanuel Clottey, who is average, and a bunch on unproven no-names. Last two fights - Jeffrey Resto and Mike Arnaoustis. Who are they?

Try doing a test of substituting Khan's name for Ortiz and see what you think of Ortiz's record, rather than just believing US hype, like so many do on here. And when believing the hype and the US experts, ask yourself how many fights the likes of Dan Rafael have ever watch outside the USA.

On the subject of getting knocked out and then getting a title shot, Charlie Magri was knocked out twice by nobodies in the six fights before he won the WBC title. That's when there were two world titles, that was the "prestigious" WBC. And the nation rejoiced.

Magri didn't deserve a shot either then, that doesnt somehow make Khans opportunity more justifiable . And yes we all know that he is not the only fighter who has been given a title shot he probably didn't deserve

Say what you want about Ortiz but by easily stopping a two time world title challenger, who was in the top 10 or 12 and beat Torres and Urango in the eyes of most observors, he has done more than Khan. Watch some of his fights, his power speaks for itself. It took Ricky nine rounds of pummeling Maussa, Ortiz got him out of there in one with a glancing shot, Arnaoutis had never been stopped and he was in with three of the best fighters in the division (Holt, Urango, Torres), and Resto is as good, if not better than anyone Khan has beaten, and he was dismissed in two. Watch his KO of Maximo Cuevas and tell me he doesn't have power. If Khan was put to rubber by Prescott, who has a less impressive record, doesnt punch as hard, and is a naturally smaller man, Ortiz will spark him.

Me too. It's an interesting fight all-round. I still would have it in Khan's favour - the bookies have Khan about 8/11 and I think that's spot-on.

This was always going to happen. He simply isn't good enough to win a belt at lightweight and he knows it. If Khan wins. This is just another way for Warren to milk more money. I can't see Khan still being around in 3 years time.

If Khan was still on ITV then I am certain he wouldn't be fighting Kotelnik. He would've been beating up bums till he forced Marquez to fight him, but let's honest, Marquez has bigger fish to fry. ASnd thus, a vacant WBO shot against Arthur would've materialised.

Kotelnik is a very tidy boxer. Nicely schooled and with some ability. But Khans speed will negate Kotelnik from start to finish, and its not like the fella even has a heavy whack to take advantage of Amir's weak chin. Kotelnik is a perfectly legit opponent, but stylewise this fight is great for Khan.Only question in my mind is whether or not he can get the stoppage over a durable opponent.

I wouldn't bother. I'd be suprised if Kotelnik even won 3 rounds against Khan, let alone knock him out. He hasn't got the power to really dent Khan, and he'll be chasing shadows all night against a much younger and faster opponent. I respect Kotelnik, but this fight is all wrong for him.

But then again, it was either take on Khan and lose his title or take on Victor Ortiz and face a similar fate. I guess Warren is paying Kotelnik more so Khan is the one who'se getting to take that WBA strap.

If Kotelnik lands clean he could hurt Khan, but then if my little sister landed clean on Amir she could probably hurt him too.

But Kotelnik won't get a chance to land anything of any real significance on Khan, and if he does then i would expect Khan to ride out any rough patches with minimal fuss.

I'm telling you now that this fight will be a piece of p*ss for Khan, and i say that with full respect for Kotelnik's abilities and with full awareness of Khans shortcomings aswell. Its just that this fight stylistically is great for Khan.

Not really because he won't get a chance to land the repeated clean blows he'd need to to have a chance at stopping Khan. As bad as Khans chin i'm 100% sure he'll be able to take whatever Kotelnik can dish out on the way to a clear win over the Russian.

Frankly i'm amazed that on a board of hardcore fans, so many seem to be of the thinking that Kotelnik wins....when put bluntly he won't even come close. This fight will be easy for Khan. His chin is poor, but his speed and ability not too mention Kotelniks lack of a major dig, mean that won't matter a jot.

I actually see this one going the distance with Khan totally frustrated for much of the fight. Kotelnik by just two/three rounds, very close with Khan not getting much success with his flurries. Rees had quick hands but couldnt get his punches off and lost his title.

Good luck to all backing Kotelnik, I am backing him by KO. I don't think there's much point in waiting for the Ukrainian to go out to 2/1 when he'll probably be available at 3/1 and maybe better if you go for him by KO. How much chance does he have if it goes to the cards? Not much, and when you think about how he can actually beat Khan, it isn't conducive to a points win.

This fight is very easy to predict. Khan will look dazzling early doors, but as someone mentioned before he has the boxing IQ of a 10 year old and the chin of a 12 year old. Deep down, Khan is the type of guy to believe the hype and look past Kotelnik just because he's a relative unknown and noone is talking about him. Make no mistake, Khan thinks he has this one in the bag.

I'm struggling to see a scenario where Khan can land enough to hurt Kotelnik. His fast combinations give him a better chance of landing something clean than many others, but Kotelnik is made of iron and Khan wasn't even a hitter at lightweight. A lot of those fast shots are going to be caught on Kotelnik's guard.

Khan will start fast and look to keep up the pace - I don't think he can help himself. Pacing himself won't be a priority in his mind, he just thinks because he is so fast and talented that alone will win him the fight. I strongly believe that despite Roach's new conditioning regime Khan just doesn't have natural stamina, especially when faced with a riddle like Kotelnik. Khan will start to slow down as early as round 7 I think, and very slowly we will see Kotelnik start to close down the ring and land shots of his own.

When this happens, Khan will start going backwards, and that will be the beginning of the end for him. Kotelnik can just walk him down from this point, and Khan will ship more and more shots. There will be a point in this fight where the commentators will say there is too much time left in the fight for Khan to survive. I expect this point to be around round 9 and not much later.

Will Khan slow down in the middle of the fight? He starts so fast that he does appear to have "dead rounds" where he's waiting for 2nd wind.

Kotelnik's good, but too steady and patient for his own good. If/when Khan slows down - maybe Khan will have better energy at 140, easier to make weight - then Kotelnik will start digging the body and wearing him down.

I have a feeling Khan will steal the win. Close decision, Khan gets it (Kotelnik fights ALWAYS close, cos he gives away first 4 rds usually). Kotelnik - flustered not hurt - takes an unanswered flurry of arm punches, ref stops it. Khan on verge of getting KO'd, Amir problably holds on for dear life, without getting seperated or penalised. Scrapes away with win, as he got fight in right place at right time.

I am sure some would find fault with Marquez... the 37 year old bulked up Featherweight.
