I would say no unless this is a bluff. There's so way they will announce as being on PPV online then whack it on TV for a little amount. I am pretty sure that we won't get to see it on UK television. Perhaps the best we can hope for is a repeat the next day.

why?

from what i have read itv and setanta have made offers that were turned down by froch and his team, if he understands that we are in tight times he should've taken whatever deal was offered.

Thats basically it, I am surprised that SKY did not buy this and put it on a PPV for £9.95..I would buy it, and thats saying something!

If ITV and Setanta did make offers which i guess they would do, then Froch and Hennessey deserve what they get on the online PPV, which will be jack shit. Seems like they've been stung for being greedy.

I'm sure Setanta would love to show the fight it amazes me the amount of people who blame Setanta for not showing it. I'm sure if the price drops they'll show it and i know they've been trying very hard to get. Everyone has read the papers and imo Setanta would be stupid to pay silly money for a fight at 3 am because it's not as if it's going to attract 50000 new subscribers.
we are all to quick to blame ITV and Setanta but its not as though Sky with all of their financial clout have even shown an interest!
here here, if Buncey's not on the case trying to get Setanta to do the deal then i'm a monk.

Froch should just go to sky and say look, put my fight on PPV and promote me day and night on SSN etc like you do with Khan, and i'll simply take a less than favourable %age of all buys. Sky have the biggest "promotional target audience" so this way no one loses and Froch will get in the public eye regardless of where his next fight is televised.

Maybe not, but it won't sell online either, so at least he'll get something and the promotion from Sky for one fight at least.

But surely Sky won't lose if Froch says "i'll take no fixed fee, just X %age of sales after costs"

May not sell well, but surely it'll make some dosh.

Yes but surely as a "one off, we'll see how it goes" Sky could be confident of at least covering their expenditure to test the market with Froch. Nothing ventured nothing gained ?

A company has never spent money on Research and Development ? Economical climate is irrelevant in this instance.

The problem is, Froch would only accept these terms as a late deal, a late deal would mean Sky don't have time to promote him, therefore the whole thing is academic.

no but surely they test the water by putting him on free-to-air sky and see what numbers he brings in?

Apparently its confirmed (bbc) that will be no tv for Froch-Taylor:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7995665.stm

I wonder what the offer from Setanta and ITV were? I guess we'll never really know if Hennessy was being too greedy or the tv networks were just being too stingy. But not to fear, bbc RADIO 5 will be broadcasting the fight

This is a real blow for Froch :(

But I just don`t see BBC or ITV doing the latenite boxing thing for an as yet pretty unknown fighter ... and I`m not too sure where Hennessy stands in regard to Setanta and SKY?

It really does highlight the difference between Hennessy and SN ... the temptation must be huge for Carl to move to an established promoter with good connections.

justin is unreliable and always dissapears at important moments or gets taken down cus he's a bad boy!

Anyway Froch Going to America for his 1st defence was wrong from the beginning and even though Taylor was his Mandatory, he would have given up that option once he couldn't get his way of only having this fight in America

Why are Froch/Hennessy trying to break America when they haven't even broken Britain yet? His next 2 Fights should have been about building up his profile here and trying to get Froch to break into that 10,000 to 15,000 fan following

Personally i would have made his 1st Defence in Nottingham on April 25th against EDISON MIRANDA and shown on ITV 9pm Peak time. This would be an exciting fight for as long as it lasted and establish Froch as one of Britians most exciting Boxers.

2nd Defence in July at Manchester M.E.N arena would be a Unification Fight against KESSLER/BUTE/BALZSAY again on ITV 9pm Peak time. Have Murray vs Thaxton for the British Lightweight Title and Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora/Sam Sexton for the English Heavyweight Title on the undercard to make a great night for British Boxing

After these 2 Fights he would have firmly established himself as a Household name in Britain and built up a good Fan following too.

Than he could go Fight in America in November against JERMAIN TAYLOR who by than would have a Super Middle belt too in what would be a much bigger Unification Fight for all the Belts and would definately get ITV/Setanta/Sky to shell out the money to show his Fight Live due to his much Higher Media and Public profile!

Well ITV are doing a countdown program to the Taylor vs Froch Fight next weekend which tells me that they will be at least showing next day coverage. I know that Hennessey wanted around £300,000 for the rights but ITV must have worked out that the advertising revenue they'd get at 3am in the morining wouldn't cover those costs and probably only offered half that amount!

Its a shame that ITV dont have a PPV channel which would allow them to show Big Fights like Froch vs Taylor Live!

Also i'm pretty sure ITV and Hennessey still have a contract for all his British Fights so would include Froch's next Defence at home if he was to win.
