Come on man, I mean Froch yes a world title holder and British, but he doesn;t have the profile simple as that. £300k is silly.

I know that Hennessey wanted around £300,000 for the rights but ITV must have worked out that the advertising revenue they'd get at 3am in the morining wouldn't cover those costs and probably only offered half that amount!

Its a shame that ITV dont have a PPV channel which would allow them to show Big Fights like Froch vs Taylor Live!

Also i'm pretty sure ITV and Hennessey still have a contract for all his British Fights so would include Froch's next Defence at home if he was to win.

£300K!!

300k. I dont relly belive that it is that high. Unless of course Hennesey believes he is going to get 30000+ online buys

Wheres that 'Calzaghe Fund' when you need it?

On a seperate but related note, the fight is evens at Ladbrokes to not go the distance. I think those are silly odds and will consequently be dropping silly money on it. Just thought Id give a heads up before they shorten

I'm not sure they are that silly odds? I can't see Taylor KO-ing Froch to be honest with you, so then we have Froch for the KO which you could bet on it's own if you wanted. I just cant see Taylor stopping iron-chinned Froch.

true enough @thecobra

froch is 11/4 to stop him and i'll be dumping silly money on that as well. But I just thought i'd cover myself and also, I do belive that Jermaine

One thing about Froch is that no fighter I have seen has paid enough attention to the lean midsection of his and I think Jermaine has the handspeed to go downstairs and bring it up top

Obviously its bad that it won't be on tv but the thing that really staggers me here is Hennessy's naivety in thinking that online ppv is any kind of business option. Only someone who knew absolutely nothing, less than nothing, would think that money could be made out of this at the current point in time.

The only people internet savvy enough to take up an online ppv are the very people who know exactly how to get a good enough live feed free. Thats a conundrum and the result of that conundrum will be laughably low take-up.

Worst. business. decision. ever.

With this move Hennessy has proven his ineptitude and downright thickness. Not only will warren be laughing his ass off, he'll probably see an opportunity here to snatch froch up. There is no doubt that froch taylor would be on sky box office and be getting the big build up if froch was with warren. hmmm, let me think... online PPV that less than 20 people will buy or massive hype on sky sports and then exclusive coverage on sky box office.

not a hard decision for his next fight there is it?

Well done Mick! :KO:
Yep it's a joke and is embarassing, Hennessy is having a bad time of it at the mo imho, with John Murray coming out saying certain things and then this farce with Froch, Hennessy needs to get his act together quite quickly with his major fighters, it;s ok being good at up-and-comers getting them on itv4, but Froch, Murray and Witter should be at a different level to that.

Really bad news.

Does make you wonder re the stick we give Warren on here though. I know the fans (me amongst them) applaud fighters/promoters going the traditional route but look where that has got Carl.

A fornicating difficult defence, away from home and no tv exposure.

I'm still hoping Setanta are just playing hardball and will come through.

Should we not be mailing them en masse slagging them and threatening to cancel our subscriptions? Could be the final straw for me to be honest....

Your talking rubbish mate, ITV4 is perfect for Boxing up to European level and can be seen by more people than Sky and Setanta put together!

ITV has done great for boxing over the years and still is now. Witter had his chance on Prime ITV1 and blew it losing to Bradley, Murray hasnt been in a fight worthy of ITV1 prime yet and Froch vs Pascal was given the ITV1 treament only for Hennessy to than make his next fight in America at 3am in the morning and than start asking for £300,000 for the rights when advertising revenue at that time wouldnt justify it.

ITV are going to show delayed highlights of the fight as they will still have Froch's future fights on ITV1 Primetime

Personally I'd say ITV4 is pretty cack tbh, they do zero advertising of what is on ITV4 on any of their other channels so basically they are preaching to a converted audience of boxing fans. At least Sky and Setanta advertise their fights internally on their own channels and on other build up programmes, hopefully bringing in fans from other sports who might see the ads and decidde to watch some boxing, ITV4 is the 4th channel of ITV, yes the fourth channel I have honestly NEVER seen an advert for an ITV4 boxing show on any other ITV channel.

If someone like FW had John Murray he would be on euro level and fringe world level already, they have held him back so much when he clearly has so much potential and is desperately in need of being stepped up in class before he goes completely off the boil and loses his love of the game.

ITV1 is still doing great for boxing? WHat planet are you on geezer? There hasnt been ANY boxing on ITV1 since the Froch title fight, that was 6 months ago, yep theyre doing great stuff aint they.

If Froch were with Warren this fight wouldnt be happening, not now, not ever, and definitely not in the US.

Again your talking Bollocks!

The John o donnel vs Craig watson fight was heavily advertised by ITV on Talksport Radio, the biggest independent radio station in Britain PLUS they have given Froch loads of Profiling in their Boxing Programes

Hennessy's lack of promoting of Murray is fornicate all to do with ITV, get him in a decent fight like with THAXTON and ITV will promote the shit out of it.

So tell me what Hennessy fight since FROCH vs PASCAL deserved to be on ITV1???

That is very true, Froch would be defending the WBU title against the mighty Omar Sheika.

Your argument was that ITV is still doing great for boxing? If ITV were still actually doing anything for boxing they would show other decent fights from UK and abroad. They obviously don;t have the real political inclination to do that, it all depends who the head of ITV is at a particular time and the current ones evidently dont see boxing as that much of a priority.

Talksport radio? Fuckin hell mate. Who are you Hennessy?

ITV only has a Contract with Hennessy to show his Boxing Shows and they have done that, i think at least 6 already this year! Its really up to Hennessy to come up with the goods for ITV, not the other way round and they have done a great job when they have had a Big Fight like Froch vs Pascal.

As for Talksport, it is listened to by Millions each week!

@ riddick blowe, considering he has made ,much more signifacant SMW fights such as Calzaghe/Kessler and Calzaghe/Lacy I think I would disagree wiith your opinion

It wouldnt be happening in the US I can agree with, but thats because the offer made would have had Taylor swimming across the atlantic to fight in the UK

I wonder what the reaction would be if this was PPV on UK TV? You all want it SOOOO bad, and are all screaming blue murder that it's not on, but I wonder if you want it so bad that you'd be willing to cough up, say 15 quid for it? The equivalent, of -- what? -- five pints and a packet of cigarettes?

I wonder...
