Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
Valero only has 6 KO's the rest are TKO's....BIG DIFFERENCE, were as Prescott has actually KO'd 13 of 21, the rest being TKO
It is seriously hard to KO someone regardless of whether they are bums, not many people have that kind of power

I can't see this being anything other than a reprise of Johnny Nelson v Carlos de Leon, I'm afraid. 8)steve689 wrote:Valero UD12 in a snoozer...

Prescott is a huge hitter in much the same way that Valero is a huge hitter. Prescott may not have fought tough opposition, but don`t tell me that Valero has either.Riddick Blowe wrote:Valero takes this one easy. Can't wait to see the odds, inflated no doubt by all the misguided people who actually think Prescott is a huge hitter.
Prescott will flatten him.

I reckon Valero will win on points too.

Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
Don`t forget that Valero has mostly campaigned at super featherwight, whilst Prescott has had a number of fights at light welter. He is naturally much the bigger man.
Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
People are underestimating Valero's technical proficiency. He's a tremendous boxer, that was especially evident in the early sparring videos that have done the rounds. Sparring with both Morales and Linares on top of Antillion and others. Granted, he's pandered to the KO artist image by fighting more wrecklessly than he's needed to in the majority of his bouts, but dont be fooled, the man's not some one dimensional slugger.
Having said that, I doubt he'd be content to steal a win, and when he does open up offensively there's nothing to say that Prescott wont do damage of his own.
Right after Valero's last fight, I spoke to a friend about this fight being THE fight I wanted to see next, but never thought it would materialize. This could be an absolute classic.

What has Prescott done to earn a shot??
Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
Pairings like this dont come along often, I think the end justifies whatever means were necessary to make the fight happen.Coco wrote:What has Prescott done to earn a shot??
Unless that was sarcasm?
Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
jesus, valero wins this one easy inside four, he will touch prescott to the body then jump on him.
Valero all the way. Prescott is vastly overated.

Prescott looks huge at the weight, would be suprised and very excited if this fight comes off.
I can't see valero getting out this fight without at least being down once.

And won;t Valero have to get in close to lkand? Yes!!!!
Prescotts gonna get him and that's not because of Khan - it's because he is too long of limb.
I must use that more often..'long of limb'

Do you actually think that just because it says KO on the record, those guys were cold-cocked?sweetscience wrote:Valero only has 6 KO's the rest are TKO's....BIG DIFFERENCE, were as Prescott has actually KO'd 13 of 21, the rest being TKO

All a KO on the record means is that the guy's taken a knee for the count or chosen not to beat the count, the referee's experience of which is different between countries. If a guy is knocked out cold it is more likely to be waved off without a count so they can get medical help in...
Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
this an absoulte excellent match up. i fancy valero winning this though.
Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
hope this ones happens . I have only seen prescott twice and valero once.
From seeing what i have i pick prescott to win . He proved he has devestating power in the khan fight and prved he could control ( while not looking spectacular) in the vampire fight.
valero is so ferocious but as dg said if prescott can keep him at bay with is reach he should win. The power in the punches that prescott throws will mean valero may not be able to get inside and punch

I'm glad Prescott is getting a shot. He destroyed hitherto unbeaten Amir khan, a world-ranked Khan, and did so in Khan's native Lancashire.
He took his chance and deserves his reward.

Valero KO1. Prescott hasn't faced any big hitters besides Khan, who didn't get to hit him. I don't know how he'll hold up under Valero's onslaught, but I don't expect he'll do any better than Pitalua.

Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
Interesting that everyone who has seen Khan/Prescott and is desperate to label Prescott as a monstrous hitter conveniently overlooks his fight prior and fight after Khan, when he failed to stop a guy marmalised in one round by the light-hitting Lamont Peterson.
Or Richard Abril, who wasn't dented and almost won it despite being on the back foot catching quite a few shots the whole fight.
WHAT A KILLER!
To his credit though, Prescott does look like a sturdy sort, not sure he'll fold super quick against Valero, but I expect to see him go down in around 4 or 5.

Just to touch on the 'KO', 'TKO' situation. Please have a look at this topic: http://forum.boxrec.com/viewtopic.php?p ... 6#p1726296

Any odds out yet? I fancy a punt on Breidis Prescott, hes got to start as a fairly big underdog again.
Anyone know what Valero's chin is like?

Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
Hard to tell because he hasn't really been hit to often. The one fight he did get hit a fair amount he was floored by Vincente Mosquera, although it looked more like a balance issue.dr_devious wrote:Any odds out yet? Very true. Every fight I have seen of his other than the Khan one he hasnt looked like Wilfredo Gomez mark 2. Re: Valero v Prescott On - Bombs Away!
I take what the pro-Valero crowd are saying on board, but pray tell me in which actual fight (not in sparring, but a headguards-off, actual fight) he has shown these silky skills & amazing talents?
I've seen about fifteen of his fights & I've yet to see any tactics employed between the ropes. I know he can be quite effective with that (almost backhanded if you know what I mean) southpaw jab, but when he does try & box in a fight he looks like he's concentrating so hard on punching straight it makes his head stick straight up in the air like a target & his legs are always so far apart he looks like he's about to throw a pelvic thrust rather than a punch.
Not trying to start a flame war, just wondering if there was actual footage of the boy boxing in a bout rather than sparring.
