Re: Frochy beats Kessler.. better resume than Joe (NO ARGUMENTS)
If Froch fought Kelseer next and beat him I would really believe Calzaghe would then be tempted to come out of retirement because people are going to start rating Froch as a better fighter than Calzaghe
I'm from Swansea Wales - same place as Joe Calzaghe's sparring partner - Enzo Maccarenelli - Joe Calzaghe lives about 50 miles from me
As a Welshman - I am proud of what Calzaghe has achieved in boxing and from South Wales - same as myself
However I have always been on Froch side concerning a Calzaghe fight - because Calzaghe has always ducked him - and fought crap fighters like Peter Manfredo instead - and then Calzaghe says he would stop Froch in 3 rounds - but refuses to prove it by taking the fight - and slagged him of jealous when Froch finally came good and won the WBC title - and said he is not a world class fighter
Bitter Joe
Fight Froch !!!!

Should Calzaghe come out of retirement, he would absolutely embarrass Froch. Taylor beat Carl to the punch last night almost every time he threw, outclassing the cobra at times. Calzaghe is no Taylor. The extra speed, endurance and ring smarts would be too great imo.
I'd still favour Kessler over Froch too, despite last nights great comeback KO.

Not seen him.hitman_hatton1 wrote:don't forget andre dirrell max.![]()
he's high up in the wbc ratings as well.
Andrade should take an easier fight and go for Froch instead of Bute though. Froch is weak against workrate and won't KO Andrade.

but Froch is always a danger because he can be outclassed but has got the determnation and power to turn a fight around

Can say exactly the same about Hopkins stamina vs Calzaghe.hitman_hatton1 wrote:thank god for taylor's dodgy stamina.search wrote:This simply cannot be argued.

credit where credit is due.

Hopkins has no stamina anyway. Plus he's a bitch anyway and Joe won clearly because Hopkins is a bitch. Can say exactly the same about Hopkins stamina vs Calzaghe.

Re: Frochy beats Kessler.. better resume than Joe (NO ARGUMENTS)
It is interesting to note that while Froch was 4 points down going into the last the showtime press crew scorers had it real close, that close that Froch would have actually won the fight with a 10-8 round. Obviously they don't count but that does tell me the American press must now surely have respect for him.
Froch has a mandatory to fulfil next, and I hope it is at a big venue in the UK. 10K plus arena, big bill with a stacked undercard.
He may end up rematching Taylor and losing but I hope if this happens that it's at a huge venue like MSG.

Hopkins is 44. Incase your mind does not understand much, i'll explain something to you. 44, for any sport, is OLD
Joe clearly won? Yeah right

Yeah the WBC have said tho that because he won the Vacant title he would have to make 2 mandatories. Presumably that means without a voluntary in between.Coco wrote:I thought Taylor was a mandatory??jameswilson wrote:It is interesting to note that while Froch was 4 points down going into the last the showtime press crew scorers had it real close, that close that Froch would have actually won the fight with a 10-8 round. Re: Frochy beats Kessler.. better resume than Joe (NO ARGUMENTS)
Yeah the thing is when the WBC announced that he had to do two mandatories they said Taylor first and the second would be the winner of a fight between Karo Murat and Marcus Johnson (http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hu ... &cat=boxer) obviously that fight has not happened.Coco wrote:Thats crap after his two performances he deserves a voluntory whether he chooses a gimme or a box office fight
1. Jermain Taylor (US)
2. Andre Ward (US) NABF
3. Andre Dirrell (US)
4. Jean Pascal (Haiti/Canada)
5. Karo Murat (Germany) EBU
6. Anthony Mundine (Australia)
7. Edison Miranda (Colombia)
8. Robert Stieglitz (Germany) INTL
9. Sakio Bika (Cameroon)
10. Marcus Johnson (US)
11. Alejandro Berrio (Colombia)
12. Mads Larsen (Denmark)
13. Stanislav Kashtanov (Ukraine)
14. Carlos De Leon Jr. (P. Rico)
15. Allan Green (US)
That is the top 15 (obviously doesnt take recent results into account) so it could be one of the Andre's or even Alan Green who knocked De Leon out very quickly last night. We will see tho, but I do think his next mandatory will be a slightly easier nights work. Hopefully it can be a big bill in the UK with Witter, Murray and some other domestic title fights on a stacked and competitive undercard.

Hes braver than Calzaghe but I dont think hes as good as Calzaghe but its a great result for Froch I would love to see him fight Kessler but i think Kessler would beat him
Re: Frochy beats Kessler.. better resume than Joe (NO ARGUMENTS)
The reality is we can only really compare Calzaghe and Froch after both retire. If Froch fought Kessler and lost, there would be no real comparison. Likewise, if Froch beat Bute, Kessler and that Hungarian guy who holds the WBO title over the next 18 months- two years, that would put him up in Calzaghe's league.
For anyone who says Calzaghe's defences are irrelevant is talking rubbish. Joe Louis is regarded among the greatest fighters of all time yet took on the bum of the month club. Longevity is a huge part of how you rate any champion and Calzaghe's ability to beat Eubank and Kessler a decade apart without losing in between is an incredible achievement.
Obviously Calzaghe was also much younger when he first won a world title. Froch's record is probably better first 25 fights, but Calzaghe's looks better at 31 years old. I don't think anyone would expect Froch to have a 47-fight career.

Froch only has 2 quality wins on his record, both which have an asterix beside them, yet this is still better than Calzaghes. Behave!
Come back when he has beaten that Balzoy dude, Kessler, Bute, Andrade, Bika or some other legit PROVEN 168lbers

There can be no denying that the fearless, high stakes approach to matchmaking demonstrated by Froch and David Haye is a real breath of fresh air but it doesn't have to be constantly used as ammunition to pick apart someone like Calzaghe.

Re: Frochy beats Kessler.. better resume than Joe (NO ARGUMENTS)
Froch took his time before fighting anyone especially good. His best win before Pascal was Reid. A worn out, broken down, disinterested Robin Reid - not the guy that gave Calzaghe a run for his money.
Some people on here are very selective with their facts and their interpretation of them. Joe had a close fight with Hopkins who proved in his very next fight that he was still a top level fighter against Pavlik - regardless of his age. He ran out of gas because of Calzaghe making him work. He fought negative as soon as Joe negated his right hand and lost fairly to the guy making the fight happen.
Taylor hasn't been "prime" since the first win against Hopkins and that seemed to damage him permanently. He's never fought the same way. Even this shop-worn, frightened Taylor who played safe against a broken down, ruined Lacy (who let's not forget, was ruined by Calzaghe), was dismantling Froch. He was well behind till the KD and KO.
Some idiot made the point about Andrade being a d-level fighter. I bet he'd give Froch all kinds of trouble. Constant workrate, decent power, solid chin. What can Carl do when he has zero defence, slow hands and his opponent can take everything he throws?
Same against Kessler. He throws hard, straight shots with speed and precision, his uppercut would reduce Carl to a pile of salts. BUte has the movement and power to put Carl down permanently in a fight. He's just a decent, euro level banger who got the good fortune of an unproven vacant challenger and a worn-out Taylot who was beating him soundly.
The end.

No it's not actually, the only thing about Taylor that gave Froch problems was his speed......Froch won't ever have to fight a quicker fighter again.fluxstuff wrote:Froch took his time before fighting anyone especially good. Re: Frochy beats Kessler.. better resume than Joe (NO ARGUMENTS)
Congrats to Froch but last night he proved he isn't in Calazaghe's league, who I am not particularly fond of unlike Mr Molyneux. Last night exposed Froch's weaknesses as much as it displayed his abilities, poor defense, slowish hands, easy to hit, just not elite level boxing skills.
Calazaghe wouldn't just have beaten Froch he probably wins near to every round. And if I was Calzaghe and I watched that I'd get in with him and school him, that is if he can be bothered with boxing anymore. Taylor would have nearly won every round if he had Calzaghe like stamina to fight like he did in the first 6rounds. And Froch needs to stay away from Kessler who will beat him and probably a Taylor rematch too.
