For once I seem to have predicted it right. I really had a strong feeling Froch would visit the canvas for the first time and that he would have to KO Taylor to win. Froch did better in the second part of the fight but despite all his efforts I had him losing definately by two rounds and possibly three. Anyway no matter how we scored it, its the judges scorecards that count and Froch would have lost without the stoppage. Froch is now mixing in true World class company and sooner or later he will be beaten because of his poor defense. Apart from that being hit flush so many times with big heavy punches could cause permanent damage so I think he needs to do something quick to improve his defense. His idol Naz used that style but he had the speed Carl doesnt have. The first rules of boxing are keep your hands up and defend yourself at all times and Froch just doesnt do that. He somehow believes he can walk through any fighters punches to land his own which will either see him beaten or even worse brain damaged. I am glad he won but most of all I hope he learns from that fight about defending himself better.

i had froch a round behind the scoring was inconsitant though 2 judges had him 4 rounds down and the 3rd had him 4up could of been scored a near shut of for taylor though

Bang on Waylon, agree 100%. I always felt Froch lacked the reflexes and one-shot power to get away with his style at world level. I underestimated his phenomenal toughness and am relly pleased to see him achieving so much as his attitude is great. I do worry about him longer-term though and can't see him beating Kessler.

Although, like you, I predicted Carl would drag him into a fight and wear him down after being outboxed, I have to confess that I changed my mind once the fight started!

I thought that it was interesting that the ITV commentators commented that Froch looked worse than in previous fights. Although clearly nervous I thought he looked pretty much the same - the difference was that the level of opponent made him pay more for his sloppiness.

I had him down two because of the knockdown.

I thought Taylor should never have been allowed to continue after the initial knockdown - his eyes were glassy as hell and he lurched forward into the ref's arms. He was pretty much defenceless after that.

Yeah he was just about on his feet when the count reached 10 but he certainly wasn’t on steady legs.

I had Froch down something like 7-4 with the knockdown against him.

The bad start was worth it for the awesome finish. The right that put Taylor down was a nasty shot. Then the final assault, with Taylor bending forward almost holidng his head.

I know most of the rounds were close, but i am amazed so many of you had Taylor up by 2 or more going into the 12th. Without wishing to come across as arrogant, i recommend watching the fight again but this time from the 4th round onwards. Whats gone before should not have any influence to the present round and i just cannot see how anyone could give more than three rounds to Taylor from the 4th onwwards!

I'm interested to know which rounds some of you think were 'clear'(ish) 10-9 rounds for Taylor (excluding the first 3 rounds of course!) Get them named :shame:

I had it 106 - 102 to Taylor he landed the better punches some of Frochs punches hit gloves or elbows whereas Taylor almost always caught Froch it was a good fight

We saw a very similar fight, ALI. The 4th round was where Froch started to turn the fight around IMO.

My sentiments exactly. Froch certainly did not look great against Taylor, not until the 12th anyway, but he was forcing the fight from the 4th onwards and clearly had the higher workrate which tipped most rounds in his favour. Taylor's sporadic eyecatching moments were not deserving enough to win rounds!

Didnt score it but from my feeling Taylor was 4-5 rounds up. I could see why people would have it closer but just like with the Hopkins v Calzaghe fight( which i scotred for BH) I prefer the cleaner punching lower output as opposed to come forwar aggression

Taylor was ahead because he landed so many shots on target, plus the 10-8 KD. Thats my opinion but with one of the judges seeing an entirely different fight its not surprising some on here had Froch winning going into the final round. ITV thought it might be dead even and therefore both fighters needed a big round to win the fight. TBH I am not influenced by the commentary, I make my own mind up from what I see.

That's how I pretty much saw things on my scorecard, but I would certainly accept others having Taylor in front at the start of the 12th round. It's a case of what you prefer.

jamesmcdonnell, I thought the referee got it spot on, but wouldn't have objected at all if he had called it off after the knockdown, because Taylor looked very badly stunned. If he had called it off at that point, I bet the Yanks would really be kicking up a stink.

What struck me was how brave Taylor was, when it was clearly all going wrong in that last round, but he stuck it out to the bitter end and went out on his shield. Very brave indeed.

Yes Taylor showed real guts, he was completely gone, but even just before the end came, he was trying to fire back.

Taylor took ten unanswered shots on the ropes and he was completely limp - he never recovered from that knockdown and I don't really think the ref made a bad call per se, but I think Taylor was clearly not in a position to defend himself when he got up.

I feel the ref was giving him every chance to see the final bell, with a long looking count and a few seconds afterwards too.
I don't think the away fighter would have had that treatment.
