hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
this makes more sense now then ever.
hatton is finished as a force at world level - witter is on the slide.
hatton will probably want to go out with a win against a ''name'' opponent and witter fits the bill.
no need for any titles or any of that chelp, just tidy up the loose domestic ends before some well-deserved pipe and slippers time.

Probably slightly less likley than getting a blow job from the Queen.
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
I wish people would lay the hatton - witter matches to rest. It will never happen so whats the point about talking about it.
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
Witter has a WBC title shot against Devon Alexander next, if Witter wins he'll be in the driving seat for a Hatton showdown 8)

but the landscape has changed dramatically now. hatton won't want to go in with marquez, mayweather, valero etc so he needs a sellable name for a farewell fight to say goodbye to his loyal fans in the UK. i think hatton v witter could happen after all, in fact it has never made more sense.

Just like the last time he won the title?banjo wrote:Witter has a WBC title shot against Devon Alexander next, if Witter wins he'll be in the driving seat for a Hatton showdown 8)
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
This time it's different, Hatton was recognised by most as the #1 at light welter now he has nothing.REAL_DEAL wrote:Just like the last time he won the title?banjo wrote:Witter has a WBC title shot against Devon Alexander next, if Witter wins he'll be in the driving seat for a Hatton showdown 8)
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
I cant see it happening. Ricky would only want a farewell fight he was guaranteed to win and look good doing so. Souleymane M'Baye is my bet! Or maybe the Vivian Harris fight will finally happen!

Know what ?
I hope Witter beats Alexander and then f**ks Hatton off by saying Who needs him ?

Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
I would love that too, but I don't think it will happen. Hatton wouldn't be in the position to eb told that- I'm he wants a route back, they WILL find a way! At no point will Hatton "need" Witter.twenty six wrote:Know what ?

Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
The only way I can see Hatton "needing" Witter is if Witter picks up a couple of titles. I don't think it'd be difficult to clean that division up if Pac man decides not to stick around.
Hatton wont move up, so if he wanted to establish himself back at lww, and Witter got the titles, he'd look a bit of a mug if he reeled out the old list of excuses for not taking the fight.
However I dont think Hatton will want to re establish himself, one last money making hurrah and he'll be a team captain on A Question of Sport

Prior to last night, you were right, but things have changed drastically now.REAL_DEAL wrote:I wish people would lay the hatton - witter matches to rest. It will never happen so whats the point about talking about it.
I'm actually beginning to think that a Witter -v- Hatton grudge fight would be good for both men.
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
Anyway I'm going to put my neck on the line and say Alexander beats Witter into retirement, so no a Hatton-Witter fight is very unlikely to say the least.
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
All depends which version of Witter turns up. I think he's capable of winning the fight but we've seen before how lacklustre he can be
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
That is dumb. Witter needs Hatton for the big payday. He would be the one who looked like a fool if he acted like that.twenty six wrote:Know what ?

Hatton was SCARED for the last decade and he will not get any braver now.
Hatton robbed us of the biggest fight in British Boxing for decades and it was GOOD THAT HE GOT KTFO OUT LAST NIGHT.
YEAH - I SAID IT.
He tried to steal the P4P against a 'smaller guy' TWICE and he got stretched!
Knocked COLD last night.

Ok, lets play it this way.
Ricky is a legend and one of the best p4p ever.

Sorry if my honesty does not sit well with you.
The main reason Hatton was streched by the only 2 prime elite fighters he fought is because he has never been that good, he just bullied people at the MEN for years and never evolved.
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
It's not as pathetic as dissing Yorkshire! Fook off back across the pennines

Mayweather was the Welterweight champion and had a height and reach advantage.DG. wrote:He tried to steal the P4P against a 'smaller guy' TWICE and he got stretched!
Hatton got knocked out twice by the best P4P fighters at the time. At least he had the ambition to go for the P4P crown. I can see absolutely no reason to have a go at Hatton for taking on the best.

what does any of that have to do with your ridiculous posts saying you were happy to see him get knocked out? it's such a childish and pathetic thing to say, i would have thought an adult would post something more appropriate and intelligent.
Happy to see him lose so we do not have to spend the next 5 years listening to how in 2009 he was 'p4p the best champion to draw breath!
He said last night if he beat MANNY last night he would be.
Good enough resason for you?
Last night was a victory for REAL fighters who step out of their comfort zone to achieve.Hatton thought - wrongly- that he was getting another smaller guy to beat on.
He tried to steal the P4P tilte ( that in my eyes beating Manny would never give him) bu beating Lazcano and PM?
Wake up, Manny wining is better for the sport of boxing.
Yes!

ANY FIGHTER OFFERED £10m WOULD FIGHT ANYONE.
I would fight Manny and PBF together for £20M and so would you!
You seem to forget that hatton ALWAYS weighs more then the peole he fights..always - even when up at welter.
He got knocked out by 2 elite fighters, but the thing is he could just as easily have been knocked out by Witter and Holt.
Haton is a boxing business, not a boxing great.
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
Hows your home town coping with last night? Shock or was it quietly expected?
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
Yes, and I wouldn't have a go at you for it. Claiming "you are trying to steal the P4P title against smaller men" would be stupid.DG. wrote:ANY FIGHTER OFFERED £10m WOULD FIGHT ANYONE.

That makes him the heavier man, but does it make him the bigger man?DG. wrote:You seem to forget that hatton ALWAYS weighs more then the peole he fights..always - even when up at welter.
Just as easily? Don't be ridiculous.DG. wrote:He got knocked out by 2 elite fighters, but the thing is he could just as easily have been knocked out by Witter and Holt.
He is a British boxing great. Losing to the clear P4P number one fighter does not mean a fighter isn't/wasn't great.DG. wrote:Haton is a boxing business, not a boxing great.
Re: hatton v witter as a farewell bout in uk
I must admit I'm still in shock too. I'm not surprised that Ricky lost, simply because of how good Pac is, but I was expecting a back and forth bruising encounter, with both fighters getting a few knockdowns in. It's probably a fight I wont ever watch again
