Same here. I can see where Brand is coming from, and I do feel the same sometimes, but I still love boxing.BIGMARK wrote:x2Coco wrote:I quite enjoyed that to be honest, he actually managed to encompass the emotions of a fight, for boxer and fan pretty well. This sport is not for the faint hearted and it is brutal.
The dread he mentioned is a fact in the sport, some hide it better than others, I have even seen Pete Buckley been actually sick with nerves before a bout, any fighter to claims not to feel like that is a liar.
i like his style of writing and like coco found it honest

It would be just as easy to describe it as divisive, considering the number of punch-ups opposing fans seem to end up in. It's interesting that most of the violence at boxing matches is caused by football fans. Boxing fans leave their violence to the men in the ring.

Read the article and it basicaly seems to say "I liked boxing until I saw my mate being violently Koed, now I think it's horrible and shall never watch it again".
Having never heard of him before, I take it this Russel Brand isn't a boxing man?

He's a British comedian & TV and radio presenter & writer & Sun newspaper shagger of the year and a jammy bastard, he's not a 'boxing man' at all.superpunchout wrote:Read the article and it basicaly seems to say "I liked boxing until I saw my mate being violently Koed, now I think it's horrible and shall never watch it again".

He's one of them Hari Krishna blokes as well, so I'm not surprised Russel Brand and Boxing weren't a match made in heaven.
He set the scene well in that article though

Thanks, although seconds after I submitted post, I remembed hearing his name in conjunction with the Johnathon Ross/Man-from-Faulty Towers debacle.Chambers2 wrote:He's a British comedian & TV and radio presenter & writer & Sun newspaper shagger of the year and a jammy bastard, he's not a 'boxing man' at all.superpunchout wrote:Read the article and it basicaly seems to say "I liked boxing until I saw my mate being violently Koed, now I think it's horrible and shall never watch it again".

Re: Russel Brand gives us his opinion on boxing...
Wanted to hate Brand while watching some of his comedy but he is hilarious, and I don't find many so called funny men funny. Seems like a decent likable bloke too. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and hes never going to be the sort to get off from blood and guts war, is he?
Re: Russel Brand gives us his opinion on boxing...
met him at west ham, nice enough bloke, i find his stage persona the most annoying thing, so imagine my surprise to find he's much more likeable in real life.
Re: Russel Brand gives us his opinion on boxing...
He's a tad eccentric and a bit over the top, but I think he is a nice guy and pretty funny. He does like to use some flowery words, but he seems intelligent enough.
