Macklin, to big a puncher, to strong.
Re: macklin v barker
Macklin has power and I don't think Barker has a good chin. Macklin by stoppage

Re: macklin v barker
I think Barker would be to clever for Macklin and Barker would move and hit and catch Macklin and he would have no answer im saying 8th round for Barker

Re: macklin v barker
Different class
DD got that right Macklin is levels above he is the more rounded pro fought better opposition , can punch and has a good chin. Some people getting carried away with the hype. But Barker in With Gerard next or Martin Murray he needs them fights before taking on Macklin.

You lot make me laugh!
Barker would give Macklin a boxing lesson
Macklin stepped it up to fight Facey, and lost. Macklin stepped it up to fight Moore and lost.
Yes, he did smash Elcock, but IMO Barker would do the same and better to Elcock.
Macklin is a SMALL Middleweight and wouldn't hurt Barker
Barker has been hurt, but come back bigger and stronger and still hasn't lost. Whereas Macklin has been hurt and lost.
The fight will be competitive, but Barker will come out the champ.

Re: macklin v barker
I just pray the fight happens because, for me, these are probably the two best middleweights in the country right now and it will do the British scene the power of good to get these two meeting with the British title on the line. It doesn't get much better than this.
Both have just won in impressive fashion, but Barker and Macklin present a different proposition to each other than Elcock or McDermott did.
An absolutely brilliant trade fight of the highest order.

Exactly! Two young domestic fighters on the up... its these type of fights that makes me love the game. My absolute favourite type of boxing match.THEBUTCH wrote:I just pray the fight happens because, for me, these are probably the two best middleweights in the country right now and it will do the British scene the power of good to get these two meeting with the British title on the line. Id take a keenly contested British title fight between two up and coming talented, evenly matched fighters everyday of the week... the WBO can fuk off!

IMO, Macklin is bigger in the ring than Barker having seen them both from up-close

Re: macklin v barker
Barker also came up from light middle.
Re: macklin v barker
if it's only a trade fight, why would both sides risk it?THEBUTCH wrote:I just pray the fight happens because, for me, these are probably the two best middleweights in the country right now and it will do the British scene the power of good to get these two meeting with the British title on the line. Re: macklin v barker
a bit more than just a trade fight, would be big, no huge in Birmingham, i think you can guarantee upwards of 2,500 turning out to support Macklin alone if it was held in Brum.Autobarn wrote:if it's only a trade fight, why would both sides risk it?THEBUTCH wrote:I just pray the fight happens because, for me, these are probably the two best middleweights in the country right now and it will do the British scene the power of good to get these two meeting with the British title on the line. in terms of why would both sides risk it? on Macklin's side i think they would see it as a calculated risk. he's already lost twice so they have no 0 to protect, he's lost his cherry in that sense which is a good thing. On barker's side, Hennessy hasn't been too shy matching Froch so I don't see why he wouldn't put barker in with macklin. would barker be willing to fight away from home? because i guarantee Macklin will bring more fans to the equation, if Macca did then Macklin will for sure....
Re: macklin v barker
If this fight happens I feel Maklins power would come to the fore front!!
If this happens in Birmingham then the atmosphere would be electric!!

Barker KO, but not an early one.
Re: macklin v barker
I'd sell Terry dog to see this fight. However I have a feeling it never will because of politics (yet again).

It's not 'just' a trade fight ,Autobarn, it's an absolutely brilliant trade fight of the highest order.
I seem to recall Schwer v Dunne was described as a trade fight, but as big a trade fight as they come.

Barker is a different class IMO, he wins this by late stoppage.
Macklin looked awesome last time out but he wouldn't do that to Barker

As much as i like Macklin, his best win was against Elcock
Barker would have done him the same if not better
Ithink Barker would box the ears off Macklin&win easily on points or stop Macklin from the 8th onwards...
