Cutmen, right. when did you EVER hear them referred to by any kind of commentator, without that 'one of the best...' line being trotted out. they are ALL 'experienced', and all pretty much on a level with their peers. I am wondering if, somewhere in the world, there is a cutman who is merely 'pretty good at his job' or 'not bad'. or even heaven forbid a poor one. imagine that from a commentator, 'fighter x has a bad cut there he'll have to have a lot of work done in the corner which is a shame, because his cutman y is known NOT to be one of the best in the business, inexperienced and he's got the hands of a retarded German rapist'

at least 500 man points for anyone who can recall any kind of commentary suggesting that a cutman was anything less than a battlefield surgeon who could stop the bleeding from anything below a 9mm bullet wound.

80% of a cutsmans job is down to lady luck, the other 20% is made up of the cutsmans skill, experience, the referees tolerence, whether its the house fighter cut or not, etc etc...

I don't know of one said before hand, but I can remember one or two instances when Jim Watt said when the fighter is in the corner "just what is the cutsman doing pouring water on the cut"! But cannot remember a specific cutsman being labelled average before he got to work.

think it was his Brother or mate that was in corner

v Bruno, Aaron Snowell had a rubber glove (or what looked like one) full of water and was rubbing it against his eye. Some of the most inept corner work I've ever seen was from that guy......Tyson's had some useless pudenda in his corner......Bright etc.

I just can't imagine how you'd discover that you had a special talent for it, other than out of necessity if the fighter can't afford one and you're the only guy in the corner.

I couldn't believe it when the Barrera corner didn't put any grease on his cut. It would have stopped the bleeding better than the inept swabbing they employed, may have allowed Barrera to see enough to KO Khan, and won me so much money..

Tyson's corner was shocking. Did not even have the basic equipment hence the awful eye.

There is several fights where the cutsman has been criticised, one of which is Miranda's fights, but I can't for the life of me remember the actual opponent or date.
