Tommy Hearns v Pipino Cuevas - exciting while it lasted.

One of the most awesome performances I've ever seen, the fight that hooked me on boxing. Hearns big test against the X Rated Mexican bone breaker, and he took him out in brutal & clinical style, barely breaking a sweat. I don't think he took a punch in return.

Agreed,Hearns was never better in my opinion.

Yeah, Curry really was the bee knees at that point. Tszyu vs Judah and Hatton vs Pacquiao compare, but I am struggling to think of anyone else.

I honestly believe any fight with Pretty Boy Floyd in at the weight is a good watch - not a classic but the man is the big draw in the sport.

Could you imagine if Floyd v Pacman was made at Welterweight - a very possible fight - what a fight.

I feel both Jones-McCrory fights were great.

For some reason I'm not a great welterweight fan, but Simon Brown was in great fights & I'm glad he's been brought up: 1st with Tyrone Trice is an awesome 15-round war, 2nd was exciting if I recall right, Maurice Blocker bout had good action. Was Brown v Pettway - another wild one, Browd KO'd, throwing punches on his back - at 147 or 154?

Brown and Curry didn't have longevity, but for their inspired work done in a short-ish period, I feel they deserve a chance of getting in the Hall of Fame. Not all time greats, but they did some truly outstanding work before all went wrong.

Ahhh the classic fights - you know the fights we could watch without dipping further into or pockets for the PPV side of things!!!

Pay the licence fee - but then you have to pay sky and Setanta and then for the big fights its PPV money on top !!!

Benn, Eubank, Collins, Watson, McGuigan, Bruno to name a few did very well out of the sport on our terrestrial screens.

yeah okay they went onto Sky eventually - but terrestrial tv did stump up the cash.

Undercard fighters for 4-6 round fights get paid anything between 1800 and 3000 - Boxing has some very hard choices - stop being greedy and get the sport stabilised that means a bit of cost cutting - but we simply have to keep the sport on our screens.

My guess is the for-mentioned fighters made peanuts on terrestrial TV compared to what sky paid them excluding the Benn-Eubank fights.

Big Simon Brown fan myself - as you say he was an under rated, under stated champ.
