Then think of a fighter who took on Mac Foster, Bob Foster, Ken Norton Jerry Quarry, Al Lewis, Floyd Patterson, Joe Bugner and George Chuvalo in less than a year.
I dont normally do the trivia thing, but here is a good 1 a reigning British champion fought a reigning World champion in a non title fight, who were they and where was it!!!

It was in Muhammad Ali's Greatest Fight (Howard Bingham and Max Wallace). Clearly, a lot thought the first result was a freak and still believed in Liston's intimidating demeanour. Plus, Ali injured his ribs in sparring by Jimmy Ellis (actually going down but then pretending it was fake).
Nice one, Collins (for the Feeney-Mancini pick). I was lucky enough to chat to George a few years ago and he told me he bought a big house outright in Hartlepool with the purse (in which he still lives) and that Mancini really hurt him to the body.
George and John, by the way, are as sharp as tacks.

That's right, across the Hartlepool sands. George once gave one of the greatest counterpunching displays I have ever seen against unbeaten Lawless prospect Eddie Copeland (man who floored and outscored Terry Marsh in an ABA final). The aggressive Copeland was picked off, busted up and pulled out on his stool. Even the cold Lawless showed real reverence to Feeney when George came over to commiserate.
Steve Holdsworth fought George as an amateur. He said you just couldn't avoid Feeney's straight right, literally one of those 'right down the pipe' shots.
