no way, not at all. he was well outworked by a flu ridden povetkin, who seemed to take his heart. he was probably 5 point away from winning, was chambers. chambers is a good heavyweight and povetkin beat him. it's funny hopw chambers gets credit for his wins but povetkin never got credit for beating chambers.
povetkin and dimitrenko are leagues apart. one is good, one is utterly useless.
If he's so utterly useless, why couldn't Povetkin get anywhere close to hurting or stopping him? Sure, Chambers got outworked over the stretch, but I remember him bouncing right hands off Povetkin's jaw for most of the fight. It was a very, very competitive fight.

pov v chambers was competitve. chambers showed great defense and accurate counters. povetkin was out of sorts but totally outworked him - quality win on an off night.
The only thing Povetkin has going for him is his great workrate. Everything else is slightly above average at best but not enough to make him an Elite Heavyweight even in this Era.
If Chambers had come into the Povetkin Fight in the same shape as he did for Dimetrenko last night than i'm pretty sure he would have won by around 8rds to 4.
I doubt it. Povetkin has more than workrate. Vs Chambers he was fighting a compact guy with quick counters and a tight defence. Pretty much all he could do was just outwork him. It was always going to be a tricky fight, and he carved out the win. It was unbeaten vs unbeaten, and you could see who had the better stamina and who wanted it more.
Povetkin is very solid, can feint, can fight inside, can pick his shots well. He's a fighter of vast international amateur experience, and a wicked body puncher in the pros - he's made the transition well. Chambers is what he is - a slick American with conditioning problems, questionable desire and good ability.
Chambers did really well last night, but he beat a guy that can't fight and can't box. Boxing, it's about attacking and it's about defending. Dimitrenko can't attack and can't defend. I'm sure he made some decent money while the Germans wondered whether he would go anywhere or not. Now I think it's pretty clear he's not, and I hope he has another career lined up.
Chambers deserves a bang at Wlad now, but if he were to lose, then I would expect him to move down to 200lbs. Imagine what he could do there, and once he's won a few titles, then he can always move back up. The future looks good for Fast Eddie.
I read an article on Chambers and his training routine was pretty impressive so I gues he applied it for this fight!! Chambers would be a force at cruiserweight and I could see him unifying the division I really could!! Chambers Vs Adamek would make for a great little fight..
As for the posts on Povetkin, I think he's class and ain't getting the credit he deserves at all!! I think Povetkin will beat Wlad Klitschko anyway!!
I agree Tony, Povetkin is excellent and should get credit for beating Chambers.
Chambers seems a bit of a James Toney. While he slimmed down this time and looked slick, I reckon he will balloon up again - that the conditioning and weight problems are not over.
I'd like to see Chambers fight the top cruiser, Adamek, but I can't see him keeping lean, taking off more weight, for less money. Not when there's a Wlad fight for him.
