Felix Sturm is ready for Hopkins,Bernard stay to your words!

Post by BubiScholz »

before the Sturm-Frazier-fight Hopkins gave an interview on ZDF where he mentioned that the winner of his fight MUST box vs. Felix because he deserves it blabla.

After Hopkins demolished de la Tortilla-Kourniova he said that he wants to fight Tarver or Jones.....there´s no business like showbusiness.

anyway if Hopkins moves up to light-heavy Felix would be the man in middle. he had a brilliant fight on Saturday and looked also brilliant. maybe the chico comes to germany for his last fight.....

Bubi - hate to disillusion you, but do you really think Felix is the heir appartent at middleweight?

Hopkins would certainly fight him if the benjamins were right, but he is hardly a household name. Hopkins wins on points easily or, if he ups the tempo, knocks him out mid to late.

i agree Loynesy the best thing for Sturms career is if he DOESNT get a shot at hopkins in my opinion, he is a decent fighter though, I havent seen enough of him to be totally convinced but I think he can hold a version post hopkins.

at present nard just knows too much but then agian that goes to all the middles in the world at present, blokes out on his own and has been for ten years.

regarding his age and the intention to fight Tarver or Jones it would not be realistic that he fights Sturm, i think you guys are right.

but what happens if he doesn´t change the weight division? then Felix has a chance to get the fight.

i think he wants to make 20 defences of the middle title irrespective of whether he fights jones or tarver mate.

so sturm coud be in line yup.

Bubi - what do you think Sturm has that would trouble Hopkins - or is it simply that you would like the fight to happen even if you don't think he would win?

he is faster than DLH and punches more exactly. he tries to score head punches. regarding his last fights you could see that he has been improving his footwork and his punching power.

a fight vs. Hopkins depends on how good Hopkins is in shape. if he fights like in the last fight vs. Allen the fight would be open and goes to the points. if Hopkins puts out the hammer like vs. DLH nobody has a chance in these divisions.

but one thing is for sure: Sturm is a fighter who is well trained with a good technical background and is fit at the point. would be hard work for the executioner.

Sturm beat Robert Frazier over the weekend for the vacant WBO Intercontinental middleweight title. Anyone who even contemplates fighting for a title like that, doesn't deserve an undisputed crack.

Eastman v Sturm is more likely :TU:

Winner to face Hopkins in his 20th defence

I think Felix doesn´t give a fornicate on this belt. he wants to establish his #1 position at the WBO and wants to step up in the other organizations.

BTW Frazier did a better job than DLH and Felix made a brilliant fight again.

Sturm ready for Hopkins, no way. He's good at what he does, but he's far too predictable and orthodox to beat Hopkins. It'd take something special to take those titles. Everything that Sturm does, Hopkins can do better, plus Nard's got lots of things that Sturm doesn't have. Experience, and a real mean streak for starters. He'd beat Sturm easily at this point.

I think Sturm should definitely be in the title shake-up when Hopkins calls it a day though. Because of the real lack of depth, he could pick up one, or even a couple of the major ones. And he might be able to get in a decent number of defences, depending on whether or not anyboby comes through. What he does need is to keep fighting at a decent level, just to keep ticking over, until Hopkins goes.

I never said that Sturm is better than Hopkins, but he is beter than overrated de la Tortilla-Kournikova and the number two in middle.

Sturm vs Hopkins? Is this a joke? Sturm himself only got the shot at the WBO title because another fighter pulled out did he not? Just because he beat imo a blown up and out of shape De La Hoya doesn't mean he's suddenly a top 5 middleweight. Sturm from what ive seen has little power and only one punch, his jab. Now Hopkins is taller, how does Sturm land that one and only punch he has, he won't. Hopkins would maul him to death in a very dull fight. Funny enough I can see Bernard fighting him as a soft 20th defence instead of what would be a tough fight in Howard Eastman. How long has Eastman been No.1 contender and the recognised 2nd best middleweight? Oscar coming up from lightmiddle thought he'd fight Sturm as an easy fight and another belt, it didn't turn out that way but don't overrate Sturm because of the fight against Oscar, I'd take Howard Eastman to KO him.

times have changed. Sturm is the #2 in middleweight. Even Hopkins says that. i watched his interview on saturday at ZDF. a lot of experts have the same opinion. did you watch his fight on saturday. he improved his power. and frazier did a better job than my special friend vs. Sturm. he now deserves a matchup vs. Hopkins. Eastman also deserves a fight vs. Hopkins. we´ll see against whom he will fight. if Eastman fights for Warren then i´m convinced that Felix gets the fight.

i have to say Sturm has done more than eastman of late to deserve a shot.

howard was dreadful in his last fight and he needs decent perfomance against sendra to put him back in contention in my opinion.

Too laid back, too inactive and too happy to coast would sum up howards career of late.

I agree with J and Bubi on this one. If Hopkins chooses to stay at middleweight, Sturm is probably the best choice of those fighters already at the weight. Eastman has simply rested on hus laurels for too long.

Would love to see a fight between Hopkins and Winky - one for the purist as it would be a technical points win for one of them rather than a brawl, but I could watch both of them box all night.

I can sort of agree with Bubi, his performance vs DLH put him on the map. However, I don't think he is quite ready for that fight yet. If he would have put on a display against a sharp and fit DLH then maybe, but sorry I think the DLH who fought on Saturday beats Sturm clearly.

Sturm should be looking at more world class opponents, for me a fight of the two young guns (Sturm vs Taylor) would be great.

Dammit, Sturm is not the worlds No.2 middleweight, Hopkins probably said he is because then it can justify a soft 20th defence for him. Was Oscar even a top 5 middleweight himself. His punches looked utterly ineffective at this weight.

we´ll see. he might be as well the most attractive opponent in middle because of his fight in Las fornicating Vegas. a lot of experts see him the future #1. next fight of Felix will be the WBO-title-fight no matter who the opponent will be.

If WBO will strip Hopkins and let Sturm fight for the title, it is a good reason not to give a shit about Sturm, WBO and Kohl.
Without Kohl your national hero DM would be a door man in Krakow.

Without the likes of DM your national hero Kohl would be a doorman in Hamburg.

Only 9 out of his 26 boxers are German. And those 9 include Felix Sturm (birth name Adrian Catic  ), Alexander Petkovic and Luan Krasniqi (born in Kosovo). So there are 6 out of 26 left in fact.
Kohl would have done it also without DM. in the 90´s he also had the 2 Rockys, Bott, Weller,Grigorian, then Gomez the Klitschkos etc.. maybe 2 or 3 millions would be missing. Kohl has become one of the biggest with the Klitschkos and the big tV contracts because of them. DM has never been so popular like Maske or Rocky in Germany, who were also peoples champions. in germany DM has always was been the pollack. he hasn´t been adored.

BTW I like DM very much. when i was living in Hamburg I met him from time to time. he is a fine normal guy, who has had his family problems like we all have...... and there was a time when he was disappointed that he wasn´t that popular and beloved like Rocky(West Germany) or Maske(East Germany). this is one reason why he is now fighting under the polish flag. the other reason is his business in poland. i have a lot of respect for DM.

Concerning Kohls boxers I only have to say that in a modern europe i don´t give a fornicate what nationality his boxers have. Kohl and Sauerland have been making Germany to the 2nd biggest boxing market of the world. we have a lot of interesting bouts every week. we have multiple world-title-fights every year. rather every week there is a big tv broadcast with a world- or a euro-title and several good fights on free-tv. Kohl and Sauerland also invest a lot of money in younger talents who are still amateurs like eg. Tajbert.

go 30 years back. there was nothing but waking up in the middle of the night and watching Ali.
