I suppose Eric it's because were all boxing fans and here we have this 'product' rammed down our throats, headlining boxing shows against bums.

I watched him headline at Nottingham Arena against Vitali Martynov - and the fight lasted 1.14 seconds.

To give Amir his due, it's not his fault he's being paid a fortune to headline against a joker.

It just angers me a little that our sport has lots of really hard working servants like Carl Froch and David Haye who haven't earned 20% of Khan's money or exposure despite thrilling boxing fans with blood & guts performances for genuine titles against legit opponents.

Khan therefore has become a figurehead for the focus of our mind's eye in that respect.

Like i said, nice guy, good skills etc but no way should we be shelling out £15 a time for him.

PS- judging by the half empty arena too, i think even Joe Public has wised up too. There was what? 5,000 there. You watch there will be 10,000 full house of genuine fans for Froch vs Dirrell on October 17th and a small army will go over for Haye.

I agree, totally and I feel the same. However, if it was about the money, Haye and Froch could easily have gone with Warren upon turning pro. Warren is a great manager of fighters helping them to capitalise on their talents to the full, keeping them in the limelight as long as possible. Haye and Froch, on the other hand, if they keep winning, will have huge 1-day paydays ahead of them against top names and earn a lot from a few individual fights. Khan will have a prolonged career, perhaps and make a lot of money from a lot of smaller scale fights, a-la Calzaghe if he stays with Warren. I do think that, with Roach as his trainer, Khan will eventually leave Warren and be let off the leash to fry bigger fish stateside.

Time will tell, but I do think that Haye and Froch could have significant paydays ahead of them and that Khan will soon have to decide whether he takes the Calzaghze route or a more legacy-fulfilling, big name fight approach.

Warren has done a very good job for Khan getting him to be world champ at the age of 22 and 3 fights after getting KO'd in a round is very good

Agreed, and Amir needs some credit too, he is fantasticly talented and got a big got a big heart, while Kotelnik isn't in the elite it's still an excellent win, I doubt anyone would have picked him to do that after the Prescott loss

The judge who had him winning 97-93 was obviously asleep because Prescott was so stationary and one-dimensional it was untrue. Vazquez was nothing special, but outmanouvered Breidis with sharp boxing.

I'd be happy to have a photo with Amir. As most of us agree, he seems a nice kid.

However...I was at a function once and John Murray and Khan were there. Khan's man Asif Vali, who seemed friendly enough, was organising all the autograph hunters and interviews. He asked me if I wanted an interview or photo with Amir. I said no but could I have a quick snap of Amir and John together (having OK'd it with John). This was when it was being bandied about that they might be fighting each other. I'm sure Amir would have been fine with it but (as I expected and in truth I was just doing it to prove my feeling) I was turned down.

This is the point - a lot of the needless rubbish isn't down to the lad himself but silly things from those around him.

I hope they win the lot and get the kind of attention that Khan gets. those two don't throw arm punches at gloves.

Khan's certainly earned his stage. I just hope he delivers on it. I think a lot of ppl will be angry if they, for instance, exploit the excellent name of Erik Morales.
