i jus noticed he got beat by jason collins - a man who he stopped prevoiusly in only his 4th fight. what the hell?? everyone was raving about thirlwall after his aba sucess - where did it all go wrong?
I think he lost to Gary Beardsley as well but avenged the loss, he was beaten by Collins on the Froch-Hague undercard...BBC showed a couple of the rounds. It was a slug fest but most thought Thirlwall had edged it, even if he had have won there is no way he should be having life and death struggles with guys like Collins if he has any intent to get to British level or beyond...i think he was due to fight Andrew Facey but that fight is probably off now.
He lost to Jason Collins and I've only just stopped laughing. Christ, imagine what Facey would have done to him - or even Peter Jackson, originally lined up to face Thirlwall.
Collins showed if you get in Thirlwall's face, it's game over.
i remember he fought a repton kid in the london ABA finals.... the guy went toe to toe with him and generally got a hiding, but he hurt Thirwall a few times ......
Probably Daniel Cadman. I was there for that one too. Good fight, Thirlwall had him down on two occasions if I remember correctly and won convincingly for my money.

If I remember correctly, the only boxer that Thirlwall didn't stop on the way to his senior ABA title was top drawer Bromley fighter, Sam Webb.
