So are results NOT available anywhere still? My calls to Ringside's Dave Lub went exactly nowhere. Again. :witzend:

My bad. I should have checked their site again before posting. Ringside has posted final results, which most of you probably already knew. Sorry!

Kareem won. In the finals he won by RSC even though I think the kid could have continued-he would have still lost IMO.
Was a bad stoppage. Lynch was awarded a belt also after wards.

What do you mean he was awarded a belt?

Which sets a nasty precedent. What exactly happened?

The president of Ringside was at ringside and witnessed the stoppage. Its on youtube. There is a grievance out to go to scorecards. There was no reason to stop fight. He sent a letter about Daynell's character and a belt to say he was a champion. They will review the bout.

Interesting. Filing a grievance only applies to a rule violation and official's judgments are non-grievable. What's the YouTube URL?

it's on my site and I was ringside. I didn't see John. I think the fighter was ready to continue but he was taking some hard shots. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I do know there is no greivance process at Ringside. The judges aren't always going to get it right. We had a boxer that lost his first fight in two years and by almost all accounts he won. Guess what? It happens. Remember that feeling and use it in the gym. I saw a few bad decisions but only a few. Danyell is a good boxer. At least he lost to a national champion. He should hold his head up and maybe they'll see each other at silvers.

Better to stop 1,000 bouts too early than one too late.

That's grievable if Ringside does not have a tournament due process mechanism in place.

Daynell is a many time national (and Ringside) champion too. From the tape and talking with his coach, a stoppage seemed wrong. Obviously we weren't in ring to get a close look but open fighters of that caliber and the way the fight was going, I can't see a reason to stop it. I am curious to know what the cards were prior to stoppage. But like you said it happens in amateur boxing and both will be successful in the future.

True - my husband is a referee and in the ring he often sees things that spectators and judges at ringside don't.
