Biggest one sided beat downs in supposed "super fights"
Re: Biggest one sided beat downs in supposed "super fights"
Lennox Lewis v Razor Ruddock. If you had told me BEFORE THE FIGHT that Lewis would KO Razor in two rounds after dominating every second I would still bet on Razor! At that stage, Lewis just hadn't been tested at that level.
Tyson-Spinks deswerves a mention. That was a Tyson Ko1 which wasn't expected.
Mayweather v Corrales. This is the one fight mayweather was the underdog, and Corrales didn't lay a glove on him really.

Yeah thats a good one
Corrales was huge for a super featherweight and was really KOing people impressively
I thought it was a real huge danger for Mayweather - but he was a different class

Curry v McCrory (Welterweight unification 1985).
Curry's left-hook one of classiest punches ever thrown and follow-up right flattened poor Milt the Stilt in just two rounds.

haye-enzo was a 1 sided beat down. haye ruined him in that fight hes not been the same since
Re: Biggest one sided beat downs in supposed "super fights"
Another great call and in some respects the most surprising of all. I would be utterly amazed if a single person had forecast that outcome. It was such a freak result, as subsequent results/performances proved.MightyWarrior wrote:Michael Nunn KO 1 Sumbu Kalambay - unification fight.

a unifaction world title bout that sells 20,000 tickets not a super bout?name me a bigger croud in vegas?also, lacy was definately the second coming of tyson.dig out the predictions and betting odds and see.hindsight is a wonderful thing.observer1 wrote:Haye v Enzo was just Haye picking up a belt in a division he already was dominant in.Londonirish wrote:Haye vs Enzo was for WBA Super World cruiserweight title ~ WBC cruiserweight title ~ WBO cruiserweight title, and Lacy was ment to be the Man, who was IBF super middleweight champion at the time..observer1 wrote:How are Haye - Enzo and Calzaghe - Lacy "Super fights"..
I agree in the sense it was onesided. But Enzo is quite some distance away from being the calibre of opposition of a Super-Bout.
But not a "Super-Fight".
I'm sorry. "Lacy was ment to be the Man". ?
Ignoring your poor English, alot of boxers are "Meant" to be the man, but evidently end up being nothing of the sort.
If that was the case, nearly every bout out there would be a super fight, because Such-and-Such boxer was "Meant to be the man".
I take it you thought Audley Harrison - Rogan was a "Super-Fight"? Since i'm sure Audley at some point was "meant to be the man" ?
The whole "Super-Fight" term is a stupid, childish and ridiculous concept, but no need to further rubbish it son

Well said......the majority on here were lauding him as a demi-god and saying he would bash Calzaghe up...
Re: Biggest one sided beat downs in supposed "super fights"
Pointing out someone's mistake in spelling makes you come across a bit of a TWAT.Especially when Calzaghe v Lacy was a super fight and Haye v Enzo was for WBO,WBA and IBF World Titles.observer1 wrote:Haye v Enzo was just Haye picking up a belt in a division he already was dominant in.Londonirish wrote:Haye vs Enzo was for WBA Super World cruiserweight title ~ WBC cruiserweight title ~ WBO cruiserweight title, and Lacy was ment to be the Man, who was IBF super middleweight champion at the time..observer1 wrote:How are Haye - Enzo and Calzaghe - Lacy "Super fights"..

Hatton Vs Pacman.
3 knockdowns(?) and BLAM - battered like a piece of fish.
As someone said 'it was like watching Bruce Lee beat up on Les Battersby'.

Jack Johnson v James J Jeffries, although Jeffries was dragged out of retirement, it was one of the first 'superfights'.
Roberto Duran v Davey Moore, this was supposed to be the big scalp for young Moore, didn't work out that way

Mayweather vs Corrales was very 1 sided even though it was meant to be a close fight in the lead up another one is Calzaghe-Jones jr was a 1 sided beating
Re: Biggest one sided beat downs in supposed "super fights"
But that the outcome everyone expected as Jones was clearly a shadow of the man he used to be. And given this, it also certainly wasn't a super-fight.alexpaterson wrote:Calzaghe-Jones jr was a 1 sided beating

I suppose but it was a 1 sided beating in a fight that was well hypedDeserter wrote:But that the outcome everyone expected as Jones was clearly a shadow of the man he used to be. And given this, it also certainly wasn't a super-fight.alexpaterson wrote:Calzaghe-Jones jr was a 1 sided beating
Re: Biggest one sided beat downs in supposed "super fights"
No dude, the only people rating him were the Yanks trying to make it another one those meathead redneck styled "US v Britain" bouts. It was well promoted, that's all.mickey1975 wrote: a unifaction world title bout that sells 20,000 tickets not a super bout?name me a bigger croud in vegas?also, lacy was definately the second coming of tyson.dig out the predictions and betting odds and see.hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Hindsight is indeed a wonderful thing, but you can say that with anything. Don't forget Buster Douglas after he beat Tyson. He was supposed to be the next best thing, but what happened?
Same with other one hit wonders such as Corrie Sanders, Quitanta, Prescott.
Only difference you'd find is that although their one hit wonders, Lacy was a None hit wonder.
Do the Maths.
You need to accept the fact the only big bout Joe has been in is with Mikkel "Anti-Tomato Can" Kessler.
Re: Biggest one sided beat downs in supposed "super fights"
Lacy hadn't done enough to warrant "Super Fight" status.
The only "Super Fight" Joe was in was vs Hopkins.
I aint sure if Margarito did enough to warrant being called a "Super Fight" level fighter - but if yes, what about him vs Mosley. That was a one sided beating.

Re: Biggest one sided beat downs in supposed "super fights"
that was a fricken 115-113 type fight how the dickens was that a onesided beatdown??????????? Romero spent the most part of rounds 5-9 knocking Tapia's head back with right hands which were generally countered by nothing more than a mugging face from Tapia.FLINT ISLAND wrote:Johnny Tapia V Danny Romero
would Chavez- Haugen count as a 'superfight'? two champions anyway, and it was sure as sugar onesided.....

I genuinely can't recall hardly anyone on this forum forecasting a Jones win - in fact, there was a significant minority saying the match shouldn't be made as Jones was shot.Finch wrote:A lot of people had RJJ down to win.Deserter wrote:But that the outcome everyone expected as Jones was clearly a shadow of the man he used to be.
