So all three gave it to Sidorenko! and all three had had Cordoba ahead when Dunne stopped him - seems pretty consistant to me so I dont know what he is bitchin about!

RTE live stream will be available i assume. I heard it was very heavily subscribed last time and was unusually choppy - and as Julian said in his latest article that no one in Thailandia has bought the right I assume that there will be a minion of Poonsamanics grabbing a piece of the pie.

The good news is that the full Cordoba fight was up on youtube within 12 hours and RTE never made any request to have it taken down - hopefully the same will be true - although I cant see many Paddies in a rush to upload it if Dunne loses

Don't think it's for the Irish Title, I seen an article on Brian Peters website stating that Fury had hoped he would be able to fight for the Irish Title but nobody would fight him so it looks like it will be 6 rounds against a journeyman instead.

Its to give the judges a reminder to be fair.

Ya his parents and his family had moved over there by the time Andy was born.
He lived there for quite a few years(till age 14 ?) before they moved back to Limerick.

Hence the English Twang in Andy's accent.

i wish i was but the editor nearly had a seizure when i suggested it. i'm trying to find some way of watching it - the live feed on RTE has been mentioned so that could be one shout although my internet connection isn't that great.

alternatively, a radio feed may be more practical. it starts at about 3am in thailand. i lost my podcast virginity last week with a RTE interview from dunne's camp, courtesy of the brian peters team, and i had forgotten how easy on the ears the irish accent is.

it's a real shame the rights haven't been bought here, apparently they were part of the magee bid (with extra cash) that was derailed due to interference from a third party. i'm still hoping the thais will snap it up late but i'm not so sure. channel 3 (poonsawat's channel) have just paid out to get wba fly champ denkaosan v daiki kameda live from japan next month so the well may be dry. fingers crossed but at least there is the internet to fall back on these days.

he isn't the type to bitch, but i think he thought he won a few rounds in germany and one judge shut him out completely while the other two were a bit more fair. poonsawat has never claimed he won the sidorenko fight. the crowd are going to be a massive factor because the irish aren't going to be sat there quietly applauding like the krauts.

Judging and officiating that benefits the hometown fighter happens everywhere, all the time. As someone involved in boxing you should know that. Given this is what he does for a living I can understand why he would be worried about such a common, corrupt practice. Doesn't mean he is making an excuse for losing the fight yet and it doesn't mean he is going to bitch if he clearly loses the bout fair and square, he just wants a fair shake. Did he ever say he won the Sidorenko fight? Correct me wrong but I don't think he did. When one judge scores a fight 120-108 while another almost had it a draw it is natural to question the scoring.

Lets hope the officials are fair to both fighters.

OK fair enough. I seemed to remember the general feeling being that Dunne needed the KO to win, but then learning the scorecards had been generous to him. Obviously I remembered wrong.

It would be a real shame for Thai fans and boxing in Thailand if this fight wasnt shown live. I know how frustrating it is when good Irish fights/ers dont get the coverage they deserve.

I see no advantage in RTE holding out on the rights - afterall something is better than nothing. They will be providing a free stream world wide, with the exception of the US and Canada where the rights have been sold so IP's from those countries will be blocked, so hopefully something can be worked out.

jesus I didnt know that. Not only does he not speak like a traveller but he doesnt "look like" a traveller either - I mean Boogaloo Ward and McDermott could be spotted at 50 paces.

Of course I am aware of hometown decision - from the age of 5 I even knew that my older brothers were up against it when travelling to fight other local clubs and of course Germany, the location for the Sidorenko fight, has a "special reputation" for hometown decision well before you would have to shoot Ottke in the head, twice, each round - and finish him off with a shovel to even get a draw.

However, I dont think that Ireland has that reputation - infact quite the opposite. As pointed out Dunne was well behind during his fight with Cordoba, Rogan was well robbed is that the only word I could use against Sexton and of course anyone that saw the Maludrottu v Damaen Kelly fight will have been hard pressed not to be heartbroken for the guy.

What I am saying is that its boring just to trot out that cliche without there being any evidence to back it up.
