After the farce on friday I have reacked my brains to find three good things to happen to british boxing this year.

1. Amir Khan winning the silver medal in Athens
2. Danny Williams beating Mike Tyson then next fight fighting for the world championship
3. Thompson against Haye best fight of the year in my view

Cheer up guys in 2005 Hatton might fight the winner of Tsyzu Mitchell Calzaghe may fight Tarver and Harrison may get Chi. I'm holding my breath at the moment.

4. Calzaghe we can hope.

5. Audley has to step it up next year its do or time for Aud.

6. David Haye will come back biger and wiser for his result against Carl thompson. Showing great BOUNCEBACKABILITY!

7. Kevin mitchell nice young prospect who will look to mature nicely next year.

8. Signs that some of the match making is on the up, Barnes Hare, an example, Thomson Haye another, alexander tak, another.

9 Froch and Eastman both in decent positions to progress, as is Enzo macc, gomez, cook.

10. Johnny Nelson is still doing his stuff at world level.

11. Jonhny Nelson and Richie woodhall have both increased the watchability of anything they are on. class shows through.

12.Boxing is getitng increased exposure on the tv just not the live fights, boxing academy and "the fight" series being a case in point. Its raising the profile of the sport.

I could keep going but last but no means least, Ive had some great nights out this year and met some great peopl,e some of whom I am proud to have say have become friends, if that isnt a fornicating reason to keep smiling on the sport and be positive I dont know what is.

In answer to the original post, there are always going to be a few highlights in the calendar of any sport (except cricket), but the duds in 2004 have by far outweighed the positives.
