Simple question really, its a crying shame if not

Another example tv companies half comittment to the sport, we have hours of incessant wind surfing, motocross etc etc and now yourcoverage is reduced to 2 hours a week, maybe four if we are lucky and privilige to get a big US fight such as this weekend. (note the sarcasm)

theres a battle of the heavyweights next weekend it would do a lot to restore faith in boxing fans if this were to be shown in some capacity but I doubt it will be.

By the way,whose idea was it not to screen Tito vs Mayorga and Chico corrales vs Pop Freitas, these fights had "slugfest" and entertainment written all over them and we didnt even get a highlights?

In the meantime the homegrown talent still avoids one another in may cases and we get facile main events such as last weekend.

What makes me laugh is when you get Ian Darke or Adam Smith talking about a match that Sky didn't show, and they'll say "What a great fight that was if you remember.."

Yeah I remember ordering it from a trader after reading the result on teletext the next day. But hey thanks for the reminder.

Sky just don't show the fights of a certain promoter anymore.

I could be a conspiracy theorist but wasn't there some legal business a while ago when one of America's leading promoters took a large wedge out of the pocket of one of Britain's leading promoters?

Perhaps (and it's only a perhaps) the latter is using his current position to gain some leverage with Sky to shut out the former?

Sadly Sky has become less interested in boxing, which could be down to less viewers but even Sky should know thats the promoters fault and not the public viewers

Ringside being taken off is a joke, but unfortunately boxing is going out the window in this country as we speak. What will happen to boxing when Sky suddenly decide they have something 'special' lined up for friday nights? We should probably be grateful we have any fights on TV at all the way its going.

In all honesty I think they'd struggle to pad out a one hour ringside program when you consider the drivel they are serving up on friday night fights at the moment. If it wasnt for the football I'd cancel my skysports subscription.

I agree. With the exception of Tyson/Williams and De La Hoya/Hopkins(Cotto vs Pinto too), this last year has been pretty appalling for boxing on Sky. Especially since September's 'new season' started. Mis-match after mis-match after mis-match. It would have been nice to see highlights of Mayorga/Tito and Freitas/Corrales though.

Definitely but they're not snapping up these fights from abroad so pointless showing another hour of shit on a thursday in my opinion. You're right since the new season started the coverage has been diabolical I have e-mailed sky with words to that effect.

Can you name any fights you've enjoyed since 'friday night fights' hit our screens? Enzo vs Kristiansen was pretty poor and it's never picked up from that to be honest. Sky don't seem to take any notice of their emails which is frustrating.

I dont think I have got into it that much at all, the Alex Arthur fight was prob the most entertaining I have seen since the return.

In reality they're often serving up 'headline' fights that in my opinion would struggle to be a decent chief supporting bout on a decent bill.

now wonder the sports dying if we all have attitudes like that come on I thought you lot were made of sterner stuff, we CAN make a difference if we continaully badger them, seems most cant be arsed or have sucha negative (some would call realist) attitude that nothing is going to change.

well in which case dont moan about what you are being served up then.

i for one am determined that Im not gonna sit by and watch the sport I love be pushed into the backwaters, enough is enough, I might not make any difference, but i can fornicating try.

I have sent countless e-mails to sky, bbc and had no response do they really make a difference?

On a positive note Hare v Barnes is the first fight for a long while that has the mouth watering for me looking forward to that.

Every British fan keeps wondering why we get treated so badly with the quality of fight coverage we get.

Well the blame must be laid solely at the feet of the fans who buy PPV's, and go to crap shows. The suits can only take the piss if the fans let them, and British fans sure have been letting the suits take the piss over the last few years.

Anyone who hasn't stopped buying ALL PPV's, and boycotted all the shit McFatton, Calslappy fights should shut the fornicate up, because it's all your fault.

The fans must demand that ringside be aired agian, and if not, don't turn on your fornicating tv when the Friday fights are on. It's simple, but I don't suppose many people will take that advice, it makes to much sense.

As for Friday Night Fights with their tacky music and sound effects, the fights this season have been sub-standard although tonights should be a little better.

Having said that I am gratefull for ANY Boxing covourage we get in the UK.

I am tired of emailing SKY for upcoming fights etc & never receiving any replies.I am sure there are many others like me.We definately do our bit.

I think the moderators,organisers & bosses on these type of forums and the incognito celebrity boxers could do more to influence UK TV companies instead of just coming on here and posting and ignoring.
Im sure many of them have already read this thread and passed on the buck!
Think about it if they dont look after their fans intrests they'll lose out! :(
