I don't know about banks in England but in Ireland a bank can't cancel a direct debit without clearance from the company[Primetime]. So I would have to ring Primetime, cancel the direct debit and they would then contact the bank ordering to cancel the DD, it can take 3-5 working days for a DD to be cancelled. Thats where the problem is, Prmetime aren't just going to hand back your money with an apology and a smile, from their point of view you could have seen the fight and then realised that you could chance your arm and try and get your cash back if you know what I mean.

As i said it's probably different system and laws in Britian than in Ireland and as I seen you ranting on the forums over the weekend about not getting to see the fight [i believe you :D ] I hope you get your cash back! :TU:

It's not a direct debit, it's a debit card transaction.

No you wouldn't, if it is a debit card transaction, and you remove your money, then it just doesn't get paid.

You are getting confused about debit card payments and 'direct debit' which is something entirely different.
